another power window problem

Well, today I washed the bird waste off my truck and let it sit inside for a while as I hand dried it (it's 32* out). When I went for a drive my windows wouldn't go down. It doesn't seem that they are frozen 'cause they don't even try to move. I also noticed while the truck is running and the door open when I push any window button I get the beep when you open the door when running and the door ajar unlights like there is a short?. None of the buttons on any door work. Any suggestions or heard of this before? I have no warranty so all the work I do myself if possible. My rear slider works but that switch is up by the dome. Is there a fuse? I did see the breaker, pulled it and put back in. 2005 supercab.

n e 1 know the fuse #? I can't find it in my manual or a haynes book. I see a circuit breaker #401. How can I check if that is working?

Thanks Patman. I've got the fuse listings and such in my manual. Could it be the circuit breaker? How can I tell if the breaker is working? The door locks and mirrors work. I guess I could take apart the door later and make sure the plug didn't come off.

Don't rule out the fact that the windows may be froze shut . On my '88 F-150 the driver side window will freeze shut and it acts like everything is dead. Except if I watch the battery guage when I hit the switch it goes to the left.

I just checked the situation again. The battery needle does not move with any window button even all four at once. I took the button panel off and everything is plugged in, I unplugged the windows and back in. Nothing. I am going to advance to get a circuit breaker hopefully. I just hope this isn't a wire issue.

Now, none of my auto places have a 30A breaker. I went to the dealership and he had me try a 20A fuse before ordering a breaker for $10. The fuse does not work either. I guess it's time to trace wires.

disregard fuse and/or breaker

new development, I was driving tonight and noticed the switches light up. I got power. When I push a window switch my switch lights go out and the heated mirror light comes on. When I turn on the mirrors (switch under radio) the switches go out. Sounds like a short somewhere in the door. I will update when I make progress.

Talking Wooohooo! Found It!!!!

Here was the problem. I was about to take door panel off but decided to check inside. When I closed the door they worked. Opened it and no power. Pulled the rubber piece back and there it was! Used a 10-12 AWG butt connector to fix it.
There is not play in those wires. Thanks for the help.

glad you found your fix. Typically if it is an intermitent problem it is not a fuse/breaker problem.

for a safe long term fix you need to solder a wire in there and put some rubber heat shrink on it....
