Remote starter when cold
Remote starter when cold
06 F-150 with ford remote start. The remote stare will not start the truck when the temp gets below 20 deg. It will just click and then quit and try again for a few more times. It will however start with the key like regular. The dealer says to bring it back and leave it over night when it gets below 20 deg. well it doesen't get that cold here that often but when it does I expect the darn thing to work.

'30 maybe it will retry, after about 4 times it will stop. But at any time I can unlock the door and start it with the key like normal.
Your truck want start because the remote starter is in "tachless" mode. This is a easier way to wire up the remote starter. Ford will have to wire the system up in "Tach" mode. It is just to cold for the system to perform correctly without a direct connection to your engine. I'm here in GA and i dont need to wire to the engine but up north "tach" mode is very important for correct operation.

Do the lights flash when you try to remote start the engine? If they do I would check the hood pin switch. I have a remote starter (not factory) and it works fine all the way down to a least -60F and it is in tachless mode, the only problem I ever had is that the hood pin switch grounded out one time.
