programming keys when you have 2 of them help??

programming keys when you have 2 of them help??

i have 2 keys i got with a 2000 ford f150 i just bought. they are not ford keys but they work fine. i bought some kees off ebay and when i do the on off thing with the 2 good keys and then put in the new one to be programed the theft light just blinks. why dont it work??? anyone have a clue. i had one dealer try it and he had no clue either. i bought 5 keys off ebay and tried all of them and none work. any help would be great. thank you

if you are doing it correct then you may have been ripped off. are you sure the keys are PATS and have the chips inside.

hi good question. i know they have the chip in them cause i poped the top off to check and they do. go look at item 8045182742 on ebay these are the keys i bought. it does not say pats it says transponder keys are there different keys and are these the wrong keys for my truck. let me know also my 2 working keys are H72-PT and that is the ones i am trying to program. thanks for helping me

I know when I did my first extra key for my '06 I was hauling @ss through the on - off, and the first time I got the same results, falshing theift light.

Try it again, at a rhythmic pace, for all 3 keys and it should work. That is what I had to do. I think I did the on - off too fast the first time.

If you have the transponder keys, you should be good to go.

i tried it like 8 times and a dealer tried it once and none work. i dont see how 5 keys could be bad but i think i am gonna go to a dealer who sells the keys cut for 19.00 and they program them for free and see if he can do it with his own new key. other than that i have no clue

I got mine off ebay from http://www.amazingkeys.com/ cheaper on ebay than his store...got 2 for 25 dollars with program instruction worked great excellent product............. ebay site is http://stores.ebay.com/AMAZING-KEYS

I'm pretty sure you need the original keys to program another key.


A new key from 2 originals is the way I did it, but I don't know about a new key made from copies.

Does any one know for sure if you can make a new key from two copies?

I just realized something. You are the 2nd or maybe the 3rd owner of the truck ?

Since the 2 keys you have are not Ford keys, you might be at the 8 key limit for programming ? You know there are at least 4, the 2 factory keys, and the 2 non factory keys you are currently using.
Don't forget if you have a remote starter, this is one of the 8 keys with the PATS interface.
