Edge Throwing a P1233 Code

Hey everyone! I recently installed my Edge Evolution in my '04 150. I set it up on level 1 for starters, and so far the firmer shifts make it run much better. I will probably change it to Level 2 soon, especially when I start pulling the boat this summer.

However, while playing around with the edge, I did a trouble code check. It threw the code P1233, referring to the Fuel Pump Driver Module. I have researched the code and found tons on info on the problems many are having. I decided to buy a new module off of Ebay.

My questions are: Is this part really that easy to install? (I have researched the location of the part) Is there anything I need to do besides take off the old one and replace with the new one...is it simply a plug-and-play change over? Should I disconnect the battery or do anything else before doing the install??

Thanks for any info!

P1233 - Fuel System Disabled or Offline
LS6/LS8 and Thunderbird:
For LS and Thunderbird, this DTC indicates the PCM is not receiving the fuel level information on the communication link from the rear electronics module (REM). REFER to Workshop Manual Section 418 for REM self-test/diagnostics.
All Others:
The PCM monitors the fuel pump monitor (FPM) circuit from the fuel pump driver module (FPDM). With the key on, the FPDM continuously sends a duty cycle signal to the PCM through the FPM circuit. The test fails if the PCM stops receiving the duty cycle signal.
Inertia fuel shutoff (IFS) switch needs to be reset
Open FPDM ground circuit
Open circuit to FPDM PWR RLY
Open FPDM PWR circuit
Open or shorted FPM circuit (engine should start)
Damaged IFS switch
Damaged FPDM PWR RLY
Damaged FPDM
Damaged PCM
Also for Mustang:
Open B+ circuit to the constant control relay module (CCRM) pin 11
Open ground to CCRM pin 18
Damaged CCRM
The PCM expects to see one of the following duty cycle signals from the FPDM on the FPM circuit: 1) 50% (500 ms on, 500 ms off), all OK. 2) 25% (250 ms on, 750 ms off), FPDM did not receive a fuel pump (FP) duty cycle command from the PCM, or the duty cycle that was received was invalid. 3) 75% (750 ms ON, 250 OFF), the FPDM has detected a fault in the circuits between the FPDM and the fuel pump.

You dont have remote start installed do you?

If it was the fuel pump shut off switch the truck would not be running.

It may be a malfunctioning solenoid, or a PCM fault...

I'm surprised you found a module for sale. My understanding is they are backordered nationwide. You could easily have a cracked/corroded module though. Looking at the pictures in the "How Tos", I'm surprised it even works when it looks that bad. I plan to check mine out pretty soon.

Looks dead simple to replace (if you have one).

Jack, have you seen the threads about modifying a Super Duty FPDM? You might want to sticky the one that has the exact part number.

Good point, glc. Thanks. I DID see that and sort of "forgot". I'll try to remember to make that available in a more "permanent" form.'

Edit: I added a post with a link to the one with the Super Duty part number at the end of the article in the "How To" section on replacing this thing. But, they could be in short supply too, it seems.
