Oh 1 more thing tho. I am in the process of putting everything back together now, when i fire it up on the canned "performance" level three setting, will it run OK with the comp cams? Or run rough? I just kind of want to get an idea before i fire it up and start panicing!

Fire her up on stock level 0.
Run it on stock level 0.
Do not rod it until custom tune is done.
Didn't the cams come with some instructions?
I would panic more with level 3 than at stock.

I would deffinately get a hold of Bill!!!!!
Or if he can't do it fast enough Justin@VMP tuning but this option is going to be +$300 more than the gryphon upgrade.
Some people have done the cams and ran them at stock without flooring it(taken it easy) and waited for the tune. Others just do the cams and wait. The second option of just waiting is the best.

Nice man... I was going to have my dad order the Gryphon today, but it will most likely be tomorrow or saturday. He needed to look at the electronic signing thing more. I hope I gain a 1 mpg or 2

Should be able to gain a couple mpg just depends on your driving habits, im just now getting to where im driving the truck the way i was before the edge. Its hard not to mash the pedal threw the carpet for the first few days you get it or it was for me.

I have 65,000 miles using a tuner, and I'm still not over that. LOL

@ Blue

Yeah I drive pretty lightly but I hear what you mean. Most people would def have that issue I bet. I'll be putting the the 87 economy tune order at the same time so hopefully the level 2 will be a nice upgrade and then the custom tune will be even more refined.

Thread jack question,

If I set rev limiter to say 3.5K rpms could I bounce the revs and not hurt the truck?

end thread jack.

So, when I get mine ( in the next 3 months I hope ) let it do its thing for the first day or so, then I can go to level 3 on 93?
I normally fill up at 1/4 tank, so if I wait and fill up twice at 1/4 tank before I go to 93 from 83 I should be good?

and +10 +10 + 9 would be O.K and not hurt much on the shifts?
And whats this lock on the converter I hear about?

Leave the rev limit alone.

Fill your tank with 93 then use it then fill it again and switch the to the tune.

I can't emphasize enough to try the tune out first before switching things in custom options. What's good for 1 driver may not be good for you and every truck responds differently to what is changed.

Hows everyone doing today? I have a few more questions and decided not to make a new thread. When i got my Edge back in November i didnt update it.I know i shouldve but was just to damn excited so i plugged it right in .How often does edge make updates for the evolution? Also what difference will there be if i run level 2 with 91 octane with +4 timing ( i think thats right) or level 3 with 91 octane and not bumping up the timing since 91 is required? Also do the 97-03 model trucks have the option of "tweaking" the TC.

Thanks Guys

If you put 91 octane gas in your truck and use an 87 octane tune, you'd increase your timing by +2 degrees, not +4. As long as you don't tow heavy loads, Level 3 with 91 octane gas is fine.

Bill Cohron, who is largely responsible for much of the Evolution's design, is of the opinion that if, "It ain't broke, don't fix it!". In other words, unless you are experiencing a "driveability issue", don't bother to update the firmware in the Gryphon even if there IS an update available.

And, I don't know if you can adjust the part throttle TC lock/unlock points on your Gryphon. It will be a menu option if it is possible.
