It looks fine to me. If I had known/thought about that product when I started my modification way back when, I might have done something like you did too. It appears your tubing is very similar to the "armadillo" looking tubing you can get in many hardware stores, which I think should also work.

It also looks like maybe you could eliminate the "bellows" for an even smoother intake line. Wouldn't the adapter at the end of your new tube fit over the intake that's past the bellows?
