Edge and Catback
does anyone elses edge read wrong?? my edge said i was averaging around 15.4 for a tank of gas and when i penciled it out it only made 13.67
Just to end the confusion (I hope!)... the prices of our programmers and chips include the custom calibrations. Some of our current customers make changes to their modifications and request new custom tunes (billed per tune). The Edge Evolution cannot be custom programmed due to Edge's CARB certification, but we have an upgrade offer, and customers can purchase 1, 2, or 3 custom calibrations. However, programmers are not the only things PHP sells! Sometimes, a customer doesn't need several different levels to choose from and opts to have his vehicle live-tuned by Bill and his computer reprogrammed with one calibration using a different method other than a programmer. There are other situations where customers order custom tunes, as well, but they're few and far between.
Hope this helps!
?
unless your math is wrong or you entered wrong digits into ure calculator-i'd say the edge is wrong
I could not figure out what mine was reading so, never paid much attention to it. I keep a record of every fillup in a spreadsheet. I think "miles driven divided by gallons used" is the only accurate method of mpg.

I would have to agree with you on the method of getting your true mpg. I just meant that according to the mpg read out on my truck it is getting 2 mpg more with the edge than it was before the edge.
Ok, I misunderstood. I hope it is telling you the truth!

The Edge manual gives circumference values for common tire sizes and Bill Cohron at PHP recommends reducing those values by 3% to account for tire "squish". That's exactly what I did with my Gryphon and truck and I find the speed and distance displays are now correct (the truck's speedo reads about 2 mph fast at highway speeds due to some "design feature" Ford uses).
More importantly though, the PCM needs the correct tire size and gear ratio to shift at the right points and possibly do other things relating to speed.
Hope what I've said isn't too confusing. We had a rather large discussion of this in another thread in this forum a few months ago.

The mph on my Edge is right on with a GPS and as you say, the truck speedometer is 2 mph fast. This does seem to be the standard. Maybe it's a manufacturers method of eating up the warranty period a little quicker.
