Gas Mileage Tunes???

I currently get about 17.5 mpg driving almost 100% on the freeway, going no more than 70. What kind of mpg gains could I expect with no changes to driving style? I drive about 500 miles a week so I might actually be able to make my money back.

**DISCLAIMER**

1. I have used the search button
2. I won't compensate by giving it more gas
3. I know I shouldn't have bought a truck if I cared about mpg

Honestly, it just depends on your truck. It may be a factory freak. You may even lose MPG with a tune, just depends.

I would kill for 17.5. On my last tank I got 10.83 with about 75% city. The best I have ever gotten is right around 16 with 90% highway.

Talking

heheh don't use A/C and no i'm not joking.. I've got 16mpg 100% city miles with my 2008 F150 SuperCrew, but its an XL with a 4.6L and this is only my 3rd tank of gas. LOL last tank was after my wife drove it with the a/c on max for the whole tank.. so it hit the 13mpg mark.

With 70,000 miles on my 5.4 3v FX4, I have never gotten 17.5 MPG, . . . ever. The best all hiway milage was 16.5 for me, with a custom gas mileage tune running 93 octane (VMP performace).

With your quoted performace of 17.5 MPG, I would bet that you live where the gas has little or no ethanol added.

Make sure that your tires are pumped up all the way and keep it at 70 MPH or less on the hiway if you want good mileage. Be happy with what you have, or buy a small car for mileage purposes.

I'm going to agree with all these posts I think. Yiou are getting great mileage.

Now, that said, there are so many powertrain/bodystyle combinations in these trucks that it's a bit like comparing apples and cucumbers. I've got a heavy truck (the heaviest I think in the 2005 f150 line) and I have a "towing" gear ratio (not exactly a high mpg set of gears). In addition, I loaded it up with an ARE bed cap that weighs about 200+# and sticks up about 6 inches above the cab, adding to the wind resistance. So, I seem to get in the mid 15s for MPG.

What could you do with a programmer? I don't know. But, I know I like the way my truck drives with the programmer, and I bet you will too!

I would love to see that kind of mileage...

I have Justin's 87 octane gas mileage tune, but I have never installed it... I'm too addicted to my towing and performance tunes.

I imagine you might see 1-2mpg though.

3mpg! lol The guys already averaging 17.5!

Personally I'd be surprised if he noticed anything. Running my 93 perf. to my 93 fuel mileage the only thing I noticed was that the truck had no power and I was gasing it more everywhere.
