VMP Tunes
Custom Tunes & Data Logging
My Custom VMP Tunes were sent in an E-Mail today! Heading out to install them shortly, and was curious if someone could help me understand the data logging I hear so much about. The X-Cal2 is used and the paperwork was not present.
Not sure where to start on the data log, process... Thanks!
I have suc. uploaded my performance tune into my truck... WOW!!
It kind of sucked at first, but after a few miles, and then finally getting down on her merging on to the highway! HOLY CRAP!!! Like a different truck! Couldnt help but grin, as I passed a chevy coming down the on ramp and merged in front of him....LOL
Thanks!

This 93 Performance tune, feels bad azz... I just walked back in the door, been out driving the hell out of it. I LOVE IT! I thought there was nothing better than the old 1714 Can Tuner... Custom Tunes are the way to go.
I cant help you to much on who you decide to go with, 90% of the members here are for Troyer, and I have to say, He's got a great reputation, and I havent come across an unsatisifed customer of his yet. Only common gripe among troyer's dedicated fan base, is the fact he's so busy that it can take up to 2 months I've heard to get you tunes.
On the other hand, VMP took 10-11 business days, and though I cant compare the two against each other I can only tell you that I am MORE than happy with these tunes so far. Granted I have only played with the 87 perf/tow for about 20min before I jumped on into the 93 Perf. Tune. The turn around time was awesome, and customer service was great.
I'll rec. VMP Tuning to anyone!

I had the Edge and felt like driveability went to hell compared to stock or a custom tune.

Yea, kind of makes you wonder why the factory cant do this from the get go! If there's this much left in these motors, you'd think they would get all they could for advertising purposes!
Drivability is fantastic, esp, 40mph + she just rolls on through the RPM's easily. Passing, and going around folks are almost effortless now.
Thanks, Thump! & ONE04FX4 your patience, and help has been greatly appreciated

Yeah man i cant wait
I've been leaning towards VMP as well, and after reading your thoughts on the tunes, I'm am definitely sold. I have a 4.6L as well, so I'm very excited. I just can't decide if I should wait for the AF1 intake to come out for the 2007 F150s, or just order the tunes despite the lack of an intake.
I ordered tunes from Justin over at VMP last July and got them back fairly quickly, 8-10 days I think. I had researched tunes nonstop for months after buying our 07 F150 FX4 back in March of 07 and decided to wait on them. My first 7,200lbs travel trailer pull was in June and I had already put on an AFE Stage 2 CAI and Magnaflow Exhaust and it was painful over the mountains. I finally ordered an 87 perf, 92 perf and 92 tow.
I can tell you that having both the Exhaust and CAI did make small performance differences, but putting VMP tunes on afterwards to tie them altogether made the night and day difference I was looking for. It absolutely without a doubt made the truck come alive.
For some reason these 5.4's are just dogs from the factory, you open them up, give them some more air and a way to exhaust said air, use a tune to tie it altogether and you have feel like you've added a supercharger to your rig. Pedal response to the lightest touch is amazing, the truck just takes off. Merging or passing is as someone else said, is amazing.
My only gripe is in the gearing. Mine has 3.73's and overdrive is just a dog, no matter what way you try to drive it. It's great for highway driving, but accelarating up inclines while in it at 65-70mph needs help.
