Mine was very bright at night also...

I did not use the dim feature (didn't see it)....I just set the color to 3% red and 6% green....the color was the same and is was much dimmer.

I played around with the levels and can't really feel much difference, it's pretty much the same as my Superchips tuner.

Has anyone ever had the 5.4 actually knock on them? I expected it would when I used level 3 with 85 octane gas...but it didn't (the Superchips tuner didn't either). I guess the altitude here really does make a difference....I used to run 20 lbs of boost in my 200sx turbo without any problems either.

I'm currently on a fuel run checking to see if it changed the fuel mileage at all. I think it did because I have 250 miles on the first 1/2 tank and I normally only get 180-225 on the first 1/2. (I need to take my GPS and recheck the odometer and speedometer.)

Just got an email from Rob, for the most part I think I can be saved Sounds like they are narrowing down the problems and should let us know as soon as they have the corrections available online. He told me in the meantime to not do any more programming, so basically I am going to leave the thing alone for now.

I loaded the lightning evolution software from the edge web site and it does recognize the Evolution when connected but a "Model ID Error" is received.

I set my Truck to the stock setting when I removed the Evolution to try on the PC.

FYI

My mileage has gone through the roof, but I wasn't gonna say anything until I run a few tanks through it to be sure..... I get really sucky gas mileage anyway though, so any improvement is an improvement!!

I don't know why unless the program that you downloaded was for the 04-06 evolution.

While viewing the pids, press the up and down arrow to adjust the brightness of the screen.

I'm getting antsy...

I think I was actually the first person to get my tuner, and I haven't been able to load any tunes! It is driving me whacko!!

Seriously though, Rob has been doing a great job with this.

he didnt download the wrong program. there is one program that handles all evolution tuners, the program detects the version of tuner and applies updates as necessary. i am experiencing that issue as well and rob says the fix will come out soon with the unplug fix

Anyone else having problems installing the Lightning software? I got an install error that said it could not register one of the windows files and that I needed to upgrade my operating system (XP Pro w/SP2 is what I have). Then when it went to install the USB driver I got a message that it was not verified for XP, then a stern warning that it could cause operational problems with my system.

No problem loading software. I got the same message - I think that the Lightning software isn't "Microsoft certified" or something like that. I installed it anyway. Installed fine, no system problems. Haven't messed with it yet since I unplugged the Evolution a couple of times and lost my stock settings.

*Update:

The root of all the problems was located, it was contained in the software that was used to initially program the units that you have. I will be calling all of you in the morning to explain the procedure to take care of the units.

thanks again for your patience, you guys rock

Began with a check for DTC codes first with another scanner to be sure there were no codes present before starting.
Had incomplete inital loading. Tried 3 times then checked for DTC codes.
Found 5 listed. Cleared 4 of them, one being a code 1000 that should go away with driving cycle completion; then the loads completed ok.
The rest of the results are simular to some of the above replies.
One option page leaves you hanging with no response from the control buttons.
I have had it disconnected several times due to this but has always been able to start over again.
Have not tried to go back to stock until the fix is in place because I need the truck for towing this week end.
Section one loading will flash the 'theift' lamp in as code 61 until that section is complete and it may be a normal response.

Shifting:
I have a professionally prepared valve body and whole performance transmission.
The level 1 just added a noticable extra firmness but the big difference is the shift firmness gets progressivly more firm with rpm and engine load. So this makes soft running very nice and the firmness comes on with higher throttle and rpm loading. This will be just right under towing loads. The EPC solenoid in the valve body is a special and will add to this.
This is ultimatly the way I would have wanted shifting and seems to have worked out that way.

I have a C4 in another car that progressivly firms up the same way.

Mine gives code P1000 all the time and it wont go away. I never had that problem before, so it must be something about the edge....
