Beta Evolution installed perfectly. No problems or errors.
Just spent the last hour running the Default Level 0 tune and the Level 1 tune.
No install problems to report at this point. Loaded and ran both and restored to stock and then back to level 0.
I do like the Trans. shifting changes at this point.
Guess I will be running all the errands to burn this 87 octane tank of gas up to progress further with the 91 Octane tune.

did the lightning internet uploader work bfor you?
I installed a level 2 tune and just drove to work. I floored it a few times and can tell a difference, mainly in the shifts are firmer. So far the display is awesome, but I'm not going to mess around too much with some of the problems you all are having.
One quick question, do I have to go back to stock before I go to the level 3? I couldn't really find it anywhere in the manual and thought one of you might already asked Rob. Hopefully will be switching to level 3 by this weekend when I fill up again. Man this deal is awesome!!!

Question for you guys running a CAI system. How does your air intake temp run compared to the outside temp?
I'm completely stock - temperature in the mornings are in low-mid sixties with AIT the same or 1 degree warmer. Afternoon temps in the mid 90s with AIT 4-5 degrees warmer. This is at highway speeds, city speeds AIT a couple of degrees higher.
Curious on CAI with and without heat shields. I'm a little leary of open intakes. Hope this question isn't out of line with this thread.

Alright guys I think I am in trouble, had issues with the programmer and originally had it set on level 2, tired to reload level two and it re-read the PCM for the "stock" setting then set level two again. Did I just wipe out the original stock program?
The gauges were reading fine then they all went to zero and the programmer went blank, while driving. Not that it matters too much right now, since it is a hell of a lot of fun, much faster now.... but if I need to get emissione tested am I going to have to go to Ford and get this thing reflashed?

So, you could tune your truck, and throw away the Edge, and your truck would still retain it's new program.
I just sent Rob another e-mail about some more problems I had tonight. Suffice to say.. LEAVE THE DIMMER ALONE! It does nothing but cause problems... I think I've narrowed down 80% of their problems to the backlight. Leave it on BRIGHT. If you have to dim it at night, don't play with its options. I can dim it, but I can't play with it too much(while it's dimmed) or it will shut off.

That's the problem I had, the adjustment for the backlight level caused the pod to switch the numbers to 0 then it locked up and went blank, When i hit the menu button it flashed the evolution screen and then i could get back to the menu no problems, but when i tried to go to the gauges it died again.
I had level 2 running when this all started. Truck drove fine even when the programmer shut down. When I got home and shut off the truck, the programmer would not turn off, stayed backlit with no screen showing. Disconnected the negative battery terminal and restarted the truck. Programmer went back to the "first-time setup" showed the hexcode and then said I had 4 warnings left. I think as I type this I am answering my own questions...I basically wiped out my stock program..... However the programmer is working correctly now.
Chester is right...don't mess with the backlight....adjusting colors is fine, just not the dimming feature....

Sorry you have troubles jester. Just DON't TRY TO REPROGRAM IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you do, then you may ruin your last hope of getting your stock tune back. (according to Rob)
What you could have done, is change the pid values while in the menu. Then it won't be "locked up" when you go to view the pids. Just a glitch. But the more I think about it, I think that it might be a hardware glitch.

I have had my unit installed for 2 days. Went straight to level 3. Truck is running very well and shifting much better. I have selected various PID's just basicly playing around and have had no trouble there. I have had the unit glitch when trying to adjust the brightness just as many of you have discovered. Fortunatly it has not locked up so I will quit messing with the bright/dim. I plan to program to the other levels to see if everything works from that standpoint. I have not tried any software downloading/connecting to a computer yet either. So far I love it- although I would really like to have trans temp, oil temp, and oil pressure. I haven't tried the 0-60 or 1/4 mile timers yet, any one else? Sounds like there are some initial issues to work out but that's why we're beta testers.
Also we probably can't say it enough-Don't disconnect the unit without returning to stock. . . .

WOW, you guys are great, I wish we would have had you all for Alpha!! We seem to only be experiencing these problems with the new firmware, and we've found a couple of the culprates, but apparently there are a few more and it's taking longer than anticipated. For those of you who don't have your units yet, don't fret, i'm sitting on them until the new firmware is done, then i'll ship them out.
In the mean time, don't reprogram the truck if you have programmed it and it reverted to 0. If you aren't having problems please continue to program the truck and document any glitch you may have.
Those of you worried about losing the stock program, don't be, we can recover it, it is a small process but it can be recovered, just don't reprogram the truck once it reverts to "0" without returning it to stock.
I've been extremely busy the last few days with this project and 3 others so sad enough to say email will be the best mode of contact. I will call all of you as soon as the "fix" is finished, and hopefully it will be the end of the glitches.
The Alpha test firmware was rock solid, and these are really the first problems we've run into.
Just hang in there guys,
thanks again,
Rob
