Something to try when restoring exterior black plastic

The exterior black plastic on my King Ranch was very faded and i heard from a friend that you can restore it with baby oil. I was a little skeptical, but i did it and i am extremely happy with the results so far. it was only three days ago but it looks great and ill post longer term results when i can if anyone is interested.

I would think that after awhile that would only fade even more with it baking into the plastic, just a thought.

Peanut butter looks good too - when you do it. I'd use a product designed for that purpose such as Black Wow.

Sweet haha And you're an LSU fan... I got a full scholarship and I start this month I actually got the truck as a gift for getting the scholarship. Anyway, GEAUX TIGERS!

The Baby Oil is still looking really sharp by the way haha

Baby oil is probably the #1 worst thing you could do. People use baby oil for sun tanning...why? Because it's an oil and it attracts and magnifies the suns rays. It's literally cooking your plastic. Specific plastic protectants have UV protection to prevent what you have just magnified. Good luck, hope it works out for ya.

Looks like the heat gun trick works pretty good. My brother put me onto Forever Black products. They work very well and last not like those products like Back to Black that wash off after one car washing.

Yes it will.
Baby oil is mineral oil and fragrance and it's not going to play nice with protective coatings either and is going to run in the rain and attack the paint wax.

There is also Showroom New Trim Restorer, which is a dye, and Black Wow, which is a very concentrated dressing.
