^^^ That stuff worked well and lasted for 2-3 years in the CA sun on a car of ours before we sold it. The trim was still looking good at that point too though.

I like mother's Back to black, It doesn't wash off as much as the other stuff I have used. And it works great on older faded plastic. It's not cheap, but I have tried all kinds and that seemed to work the best for me. I would think mis-use of a heat gun could potentially damage your plastic if it gets too close.

Sorry, Rhonda - Back to Black is garbage. You need to try some of the other products mentioned here.

I came acrossed this stuff http://shop.armordillots1.com/produc...2&categoryId=1 on another form. Looks to be some good stuff alittle pricy. But Chevy made it a Warrinty item fit to the Avalanch cladding problem so it might not be a bad idea to try. But this is just my 2 cents..lol

How would you use it? You smear it on and then clean it off. Might be easier just to buy peanut oil if you really want to try it.

Sorry...another vote for Mothers! Back to Black works great, or at least always has for me, when you use it for it's intended purpose. For everyday plastic care, Mothers Protectant is also as good as anything else I've ever used and better than most.

I use the Turtle Wax Ice Liquid for all my plastic. I hate it on metal, but think it works great on plastic such as the mirrors, moulded mud flaps, bed rails etc....

I hate back to black. I haven't tried it just once, I have tried it many times always with the same result; When it rains, it runs down the body and looks awful. I've tried everything from light coats to heavy coats and it doesn't seem to matter. That stuff is junk. I'll use Armorall over back to black any day. Sure, doesn't last too long but it also doesn't run down the body after it rains. I'll try some other products eventually (the stuff GM recommends for the Avalanche seems like it would be good) but for the time being, I'm fine with applying Armorall weekly.

Why oils work

Oils like olive oil Pam cooking spray. Wd-40 all work to return your plastic back to the original color. The same as peanut oil. Due to it adds the oils back to the plastic that it has lost over time.
