Back to black products?

Just curious if the "back to black" products work? Need to get my grill and some other small parts on my 97' scab looking new again.

Mother's Back to Black is junk. I don't know what exact grill you have, but I did the black (dark grey) shiny grill on my 03 XL with M105 (you could use rubbing compound) followed by PlastX. The best stuff out there for true black plastic (textured) is Black Wow, but if it's really faded you may need Showroom New (a dye) or Krylon Fusion paint.

I have used back to black for a lot of things, works great for me. I also has a bottle of Meguires stuff, works equally as well.

use Black Wow. I've also used the Showroom New and it works great as more of a permanent solution. Listen to GLC...he knows what he's talking about.

I have used Back-To-Black for years and have always had great success with it, even though a lot of guys on this forum rip it.....

However, I should point out that I am always starting with a new vehicle, and use the Back-To-Black consistently from the first detail after purchase, so maybe that's why I've had such good luck with it. I'm not sure how it would work for restoring a nice finish to a badly neglected piece of trim.....

I think the best product is...Krylon Fusion paint!
Ok, I know this wasn't what you were asking but I too was tired of the bleached look and various products that would work for a few weeks, but run in the rain and morning dew. In just a few days, I painted my mirrors, flares, cowl and eventually door handle buckets. The clear coat I used has UV protection so hopefully they will stay good and black for a long time. It was all pretty easy so I will just put it out there.

The highlighted products are going to be your best bet.

I've been using Black Wow for a couple of years now with good results, but I'm gonna pull my flares sometimes this summer and paint them.

Back to Black didn't do a darn thing for me. I just painted the surface with Fusion and said done.

Black Wow is fantastic! I just detailed a 1997 Blown Cobra and the black cowl was grey from the sun. After wiping it down with some isopropyl alchol, Black Wow restored it to brand new. Once, it dried completely I used 303 Aerospace to add some protection.

Great product!

Forever Black is another good product but very messy!

I tried this crap and it should be called back to gray, as soon as the rains came it looks worse than before. take the money you were going to spend on it and throw it away. Worst crap on the market. I made advanced take it back. Total crap.

the back to black is ok, but you have to use it EVERY TIME you wash the truck.

Back to no black is junk. I gave the bottle I used years ago to my neighbor. Went to Black Wow, and Hyper Dressing, much better products but the drawback is they attract dust in the air. The current trend of Forever Black, and heat gun treating your trims is catching on more and proving good long lasting results.

Exactly! And once it is clear coated, you can clear it lightly, and them it can be waxed. My wiper cowl, valance, and lower grill has looked fantastic ever since I did this in 2008.
