I know Im bringing up an old thread but would this affect remote start?

Just did mine but i put mine in a different spot and didnt use the cig lighter mine still starts with the key too

 

Thinking about getting another power receptacle to do this mod with so I don't have to give mine up. Are the standard cig lighter assemblies at Advance the same size as the stock cig assembly?

 

i did this a while ago and never tried to use my aux plugs untill the other night. would un hooking the cig lighter cause my aux not to work?

I would highly suggest using a relay, I did. My switch(lighter) just switch ground to the relay coil.

I also have aftermarket remote start and it works fine with it this way using a relay.
