Quick question. I am planning on doing this MOD and for the valet switch I wanted to do a rocker switch instead of the toggle switch. One of the prongs asks for a 12V source. I was wondering if the RED/BLUE(wire coming from the bottom) wire is a constant 12V or only at the time of ignition? Thanks!

so i tore apart the dash and went to cut the wires but i figured i would just splice them instead just to see if those are the wires. and i couldnt get anything. and there was no way for me to check to see if those were the wires. so does anyone know 100% sure if those are the right wires?

Heres the wire diagram for your 1998 Expedition: http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/bdnew...ngdiagrams.asp You can see that the RED/BLUE is a starter and then BLUE/GREEN is ignition.

I'm wondering the same. My switch is wanting a ground, source, and 12v. Can anyone provide some insight on this?

Thanks!!

Just did this today. Love the mod!!!. One thing about this diagram though. Shouldn't the black wire from the switch be on the other pole? Right now, with the diagram shown, if the switch is off, neither the key or the cig lighter start would work. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

No, its correct. The pushbutton will always work regardless of the switch position. The switch position only controls whether or not the key ignition will work.

Now I have a question, If I get one of those push button starter things from pep boys could I use that if I just cut the proper wires according to this write up?

Yep doesn't matter what button all you have to do is close the circuit.

Good deal. I put a power inverter where that outlet is. So I'll put the push button somewhere else. Thanks.
