no idea fordfenatic. I know diddly squat about the 97-03 trucks. I had a 98 F-150 6'er for about 1 yr, but never really go into those trucks.

From what I have read they will not. Keys list up to 2003, then 2004 up. I think the min issue is the raised area around, where the ignition switch goes. One of these keys will not clear.

Had to scrap the fusion key. It did work and worked so well, that it would lock and unlock both my F150 and her Edge. Tried different keys. Had computers cleared and all. Never got any help of if anyone else experienced it. Now its just a spare that I give to someone who may be borrowing my truck.

It was nice tho. . .

other than not clearing should they work?? I am planning a powerplant conversion to a cummins, so while i have it apart i may replace the steering column to either a manual or one out of a newer truck. If the frequencies work i think i my try it. thanks for the help

I havene't been able to find anything definitive, on the Pats Key, or key FOB. Some sources say yes, so say no.

you need to compare the frequency codes on the back of the clickers.

find a couple of 97-03 clickers

find a couple of 04-10 clickers
most sellers on eBay post them up...so it should only involve you looking through a few listings on eBay to get a sampling of what each range of trucks use
then compare their frequency codes. that is how guys first noticed the Fusion keys cross platform.

see FCC ID #'s below. basically, I think a Fusion key might work on a 97-03 model. Based on the FCC ID of CWTWB1U331 that all share, it seems they would talk with each other.

But, I know for a fact the fusion key doesn't on 05-06 Mustangs...but works perfectly on 07-10 Mustangs. And they share a common FCC ID as well.

Someone needs to buy the bullit on their 97-03 and try it out...just don't cut the key. If it doesn't work, you can always resell the Fusion key very easily to a 04+ guy. It's a pretty safe bet IMO. Someone going to be a Trailblazer?

2003 and older:
FCC ID: CWTWB1U331
OR
GQ43VT11T
OR
CWTWB1U212
2004+:
FCC ID: CWTWB1U331

Fusion 2006-2007 models:
FCC ID: CWTWB1U331 for traditional clicker
or
OUCD6000022 for key/fob integrated unit

Thanks for the writeup, works great. a little tip......................

The freestyle key is a little longer (1/4") make sure that when the person cuts the key that they cur from the base of the key to the tip so that it cuts off the extra and the stop is still in the same place. You might have to file down the flat part from the middle of the end where the excess is cut off. Thanks for the write-up very happy with the new key..

I just tried to program a spare key I bought off ebay. I was unsuccessful. Any other ideas besides dealership? The key I bought also has more of a squared head (black part of key) than my original Ford key which is alot more rounded. Any ideas would be appreciated.

are you sure it is a PATS key? or the proper year range?

the RFID chip is about the size of a grain of rice.

if the key doesn't program, then it is either not PATS, or the wrong key in general. It truly is a go or no go procedure.

Did you follow the procedure using two programmed keys?
