Maybe somebody else has already mentioned this but I got lazy half way through reading and posted it anyway.

Has anyone tried a plastic polish/restorer. I found this site, http://www.janvil.com/plastic_polish.htm
One guy used this companies product to repair a laser disc that was previously unplayable due to scratches.....if it can make laser media playable again what might it do for black plastic?

$12 for a 2oz bottle and it might be a longer lasting remedy for fading plastic.

After a little more searching I found this stuff
http://www.303products.com/tech/inde...TOKEN=95978333
Maybe more of a preventive measure.

I noticed the other day that some of the paint is peeling in the bottom of the "ice cube tray" on the drivers side portion of the cowl. It's not speading to the area around it though. I'll attribute it to the water that always rests in there. Maybe some more clear in there would have done a better job. But it's been over a year parked outside in the blistering Florida sun, so I'm not too surprised. I suppose I could do it again, but I think next time around I'll look into buying new plastic parts and just replace the darn thing.
Anybody know how much a new cowl goes for?

Did this to my expy and it turned out great! Only thing is the other day my brother bought some Mothers "Back To Black"...Used it on my mirrors and it surprisingly enough worked! Came out just as good as the cowl and a lot easier to do. Dont know how long itll last but im just throwin that out there for anyone who wants to clean up sun faded plastic and make it look new again

I'm going to give this a shot but I have a detailed question regarding a F'up I made a while ago.

When I installed my toolbox (box is gone now) I drilled into the bed rails (yeah I know bad idea) and now my bed caps have 2 holes on each side. Any thoughts on how to patch them so I can lightly sand them down and paint them when I do my cowl?

...or

Anyone know how much a set of the bed rails go for?

If the holes are not too big, could you use bondo? If they are too big, you can get small sheets of plastic (styrene) and plastic cement at a hobby/crafts store in the model dept, then glue a piece of plastic behind the hole to hold the filler in place, then use bondo.
