Your opinion please

Hey everyone. Just a simple question for you. Thinking about doing some badge and emblem replacement on my truck. Wanted your thoughts of whether I should leave it alone or make the changes. Here's the truck:

Here are the badges I was looking at from the new appearance packages:

If I do those badges, is this too much (not a great quality pic)?

Or should I go with this instead?

Obviously if I left the stock badges alone, I would go with the second emblem. Thanks for your thoughts. Just looking for opinions. Don't want to make it look gaudy.

Haha. Thanks! Yeah black and red are great compliments. And I actually saw this months truck of the month. And I like those red badges. Just wasn't sure if it would be overkill to go with the red Ford emblem too.

Go with the painted ford emblems, i'd add one to the front grill too. And those appearance pkg red badges are 2 piece, you can remove the fonts and paint them say, silver, and reassemble them and then the fonts would be silver, and match your truck very very well.

So just want to make sure I follow. Instead of going with black and red, you suggest taking the new badges and removing the red, painting them silver and then going with the second Ford emblem with the black and chrome? No red?

Also, for the front grille, you see I have the billet grille so there's no "spot" for an emblem, but you think I could still just put one on there since they have the adhesive on the back? Would you do the traditional center location and size or a smaller one? Thanks for the input!

I personally feel that would look better yes. I'm not much for the red accents on a mostly black vehicle. It sort of bugs me seeing the red shock boots on my Rancho RS9000XLs. If I could get silver boots I would .

Here is Blackout FX4's write up on the badge painting.

As for a grill emblem, I just prefer these trucks displaying what they are. Especially with the emblems Brent ( Lifted5.4Lariat ) painted for me!

I think your truck looks great!

I would maybe add the black/chrome Ford oval on the tailgate but that would be it.

Thanks for this. That does look really good. Might have to give that a thought. Seems easy enough. I could probably just go with whatever color I choose in the Krylon Fusion and not worry about the body color since I'm not color matching. And what I may do is get one new emblem and attach it to the front temporarily to see how it looks and if I like it.

Thanks! Yeah get a little nervous making changes like that. I see some vehicles around where they fall in love with the chrome, for example, and every accent is done up in chrome and it just gets to be too much. Don't want that to happen in reverse here.

I am actually looking at doing the badges and emblems myself. For what its worth if you have not looked yet, try searching in this forum regarding another Ford F150 Forum member "MoodyBlue" and also look up "Official Marks". Both of them appear to do fantastic work and although I don't think MoodyBlue is making badges right now, its my understanding that he will continue doing them again sometime this summer?!?! Official Marks will do vinyl graphics to replace the 4x4 or FX4 logos to whatever scheme you want and then some. (I do not have them yet, nor have I ordered them ... but will be doing those next)

As for your original question: There certainly is a point at which it could become too much, but I do not think that the badges and emblems with a touch of red on an all black truck is to much! (IMO)

Oh and not to discourage you, but more of an FYI.... I contacted Brent (Lifted5.4Lariat) several weeks ago about the emblems and I took away from his message the he is no longer doing them due to the price increase of the emblems from Ford. Feel free to contact him yourself, but that is just my two cents

Thanks for the info! I'll look into those guys and yeah I've dealt with Brent before. No dice on the emblems. Appreciate the feedback.
