How To: PTM FX Appearance Pkg 2011+ Badges

I bought a set of 2011+ FX Appearance package emblems from Tasca.. I didn't know that they are made in 2 separate pieces until I found a "how to" thread on the other F150 forum from member "TexasTexas95".. Also found out that my chrome badges that I removed are also 2 pieces.. I had painted my previous badges and also used vinyl inlays, But the inlays never fit properly..

Badge Parts I bought:
FX4 Fender Emblems
RH: CL3Z-16720-D $34.36
LH: CL3Z-16720-B $34.36
Tailgate Emblem
CL3Z-9942528-A $34.36

I also bought
Ingot Silver touch up paint in rattle can from Automotivetouchup.com
a roll of double sided automotive tape
1 can of Krylon Fusion for a base coat

1st step remove double sided tape from new emblem and separate the 2 parts of the badge

Once apart I used a few very light coats of Krylon Fusion because of its adhesion ability

Then 5-6 light coats of body colored paint

After drying for a few hours, I reassembled the parts back together. I didnt paint the OEM black part because it has a really nice matte black color

Thanks again to TexasTexas95 for the original how to thread

Nice job man!

Are the 2009-2010 two piece two? I have an idea I want to try out, but didn't know if I could do it.

Ok that stinks... are all the 2012 badges two piece? I wanted to do what you have done, but Arizona beige inserts. I need the XLT ones though.

The 2011+ XLT badges should also be 2 piece.

The top one is my 2011 FX4 chrome badge that I removed and is 2 Piece, The bottom is from my 2010 FX2 and is 1 piece.

You can use some fishing line. wrap one end around one hand and the other end around your other hand and run the line behind the badge.

The fishing line method is prob your best and safest bet. I didnt have any fish in line, So I carefully got a tiny flat head screwdriver behind the emblem and pried it off.. The double sided tape came off easily too.

This is pretty handy info

When I ordered my 09 badges a couple years ago I spent hours masking off the letters to keep them black and paint the chrome trim. This would have saved alot of effort

Results look awesome
