HIDs in reverse light?
It would take some work to get them into the tail lights. However, if you had Auxiliary reverse lights, it would be a lot easier. Many of the fog lights or reverse lights use an H1 style bulb, which can easily be converted to HIDs.
It can be done, but really wouldn't be worth it IMO. With the time it takes for HIDs to fully warm up and reach their brightness, I would already be done backing up normally.
I have 6k HIDs in my heads and fogs, and every other bulb is 6k LEDs, except my reverse lights. Both my normal and auxiliary reverse lights are halogen. The only time anyone sees them lit up is when I am in reverse, and the halogens seem to provide the most useable light. I have Sylvania Silverstars in both my reverse lights and my auxiliary lights.
Are you wanting to switch for the color, or brightness, or to be unique?

I want the 6k color and the brightness, I got the hid idea from somewhere off the f150online but I mis read what they were sayin but I got the idea of doin hids, what suggestions do yall have of getting the 6k color and be really bright??
Just get a pair of these from Walmart. $20 and you're out the door. I think they do have the H1 bulb like Rednoved was talking about and could be converted to HID. I wouldn't convert them though because I agree that by the time you're already backed up, the bulbs wouldn't even be warmed up yet.

or you could flick them on before you are ready to back up. but even then it would be a waste of money since using them in rapid succession without letting them warm up will shorten the lifespan quickly

You could get 6k leds for the stock reverse lights, and get 6k HIDs for auxiliary reverse lights. That would provide the most light. I have seen a couple BMWs that had HIDs in their stock reverse light location, and the stock bulbs use 921. I don't know if there is an HID bulb that fits the fords reverse light harness.

These will probably be the brightest led reverse bulbs you can buy http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/B...viewsTabAnchor
Edit: I forgot about this, it will give you the HID look too.

the recon back up lights are the best hands down, I searched for over six months and tried seven pairs of lights, they are the most durable and brightest back up lights there are. You could use a larger off road light if you don;t mind seeing it from the back, but the recon lights are nice and small and blend in well, most people never see mine until they are on.
x2, great now I can be blinded by idiots backing out of their driveway. Its pointless since the bulbs wont even be fully lit by the time you are done backing up anyways. Not to mention the constant firing of the ballasts every time you reverse is going to kill the bulbs quickly anyways. Just grab some 6k LEDs and call it a day.

If that's still not enough:
Add some small fogs under the bumper...
A line of fire led bar under the tail gate...
Or there is a company that makes a hitch cover that has fogs built into it too...
