How long as your Recon Lightbar Lasted?

I purchased my recon extreme in Jan and just noticed today its not working, i take it to the place that installed it and they told me that it was cracked in 3 different places and that they couldnt do anything and to contact recon. So i contacted them and was told all recon products that uses 12 volts are warranted for 90 days. So i just threw away 120 bucks plus 40 for the install on this piece of crap. Good luck with yall's with recons.

I curious on the answers you get on your question, I love the "fire and ice" light bars but I can not stand it when you see one and like half the LEDs dont light up. Thats the only reason I dont have one. I dont wanna be that guy. If they have the shelf life of a bananna ill never own one.

Sure did! I got it hard wired to the truck, no just plugged into the trailer lights connector

X2. I installed mine and wired it in 15 minutes...

I've had my RECON Line of Fire for over 2 years (and that has included two harsh Midwest winters). I don't see how yours is cracked unless you received it that way or something bashed it... That sucks man.

And I hate seeing the cheaper tailgate bars with lights out or lights of varying brightness. Makes me glad I spend the extra money on a RECON.

x2 Those Bullly bars from autoZone look cheap as hell with the varying brightness. My Plasmaglow has lasted almost four years and not one problem.

$40 bucks? you guys got robbed. mine was hardwire installed in less than 10 mins cost me 10 bucks. Granted lost the truck quick. But same with my rampage no problems. I'm actually going back to the Recon White Lightning. It's in the garage and I have the know how now to wire it myself. Just gotta find the time.

The first light bar i had on my 01 f150 was the line of fire and didnt have a problem with it but they took my trailer plug. So when i got the KR i told them i wanted both trailer plugs to be available and working so they put another connector on to where i had both trailer plugs. Thats why it was 40 bucks, i think the connector alone was 15 to 20 bucks.
I know nothing has hit it to make it crack, All i can think of is either i got a defective unit or maybe the heat cracked it?? Only other brand i can find in town other than recon is rampage and they still want 80 bucks for it. I think i can get a recon line of fire for about the same price.
Just not sure i want to spend another 100 dollar bill for another recon especially since this one didnt last a year.

Ive just left this recon alone and still had it on the truck even though it was not working.. Well this morning i backed out the driveway and glanced at the truck and saw like 3 leds burning on the lightbar..the truck has been sitting for the last 3 days and the lightbar hasnt worked for months. so i go to the place i bought it from and he told me just to bring it in and they would take it off.

So i came home to get the truck and now all the lights on the lightbar was burning(this is with the truck off and not been touched in a few days). Went to the place to get in unistalled and the owner said he talked to recon and they would buy it back from me to check it out since there have been alot of other complaints... So I got my 119.00 back today and just put on my pacer lightbar and looks great..

First pic of Recon with just a few lights burning

Second pic when i came back and all the light we lit up

Third pic is the Pacer lightbar i got for Christmas

I have lost all respect for recon's overpriced junk when my line of fire went out in a few months. Good thing I got it cheap on amazon. It had three LEDs go out so I ripped that piece of crap off my truck and folded it up and crammed it in the garbage can.

They are ugly and never perfectly horizontal anyway.

I have never seen a light bar that was level and hardly ever see one that functions properly.

Okay now this thread makes me nervous. My BIL has one on his 97 Chev 3500, and has been there as long as I can recall. He is in the body shop / mod business, and has installed a LOT of these bars. Yeah a few go bad (anything electronic will go bad eventually), but failure rate is actually pretty decent (less than 5% within his warranty period of 12 months). Knowing this, and seeing the added safety benefit of additional lighting for stop, and turns I asked for a LOF for Christmas, and got one. I installed the thing yesterday. What bugs me is the folks complaining seem to be from Texas, meaning heat and humidity... I see a LOT of these on the road now, and I see very very few that have failed. Even talked to some guys with the bars that have failed, and all of them have been brands other than Recon... I sure hope I didn't make a mistake...

my LOF has worked fine for over a year now.

Grant I didn't install it quite level, so a few of the LEDs seems to point up, but everything works fine.

I did have a scare one day when I noticed the right side went out. I unplugged it from the connector, and plugged it back in. It was all good.

I will probably hardwire mine into the trailer controls in the next few weeks.
