LED OVERhaul.....and problems

so i put led's in everything today.

-front signals
-front running lights
-brakes
-reverse lights
-cargo lamps
-3rd brake lights
-interior lights
-plate lights.

but i have a couple problems

my cruise wont work.
my rear brakes look like theyre always on
and my signals wont work. they burn but they dont blink

when i try to signal with the original relay it makes a nasty noice and nothing
with the led relay when i signal my brakes dim and but the front nor rear signals blink.

so im thinking mabey i got a bad relay

thanks for any help you can give me.

With the LED's I bought for my plate lights, domes, etc all of them had on the package not to put them in the tails, markers, blinkers. I don't know if they need to be special or not. Sorry if that doesn't help.

You have a 2004+ truck, dont you?

To solve the cruise problem, you have to install a special relay or resistor in the 3rd brakelight. I cannot help you anymore on that part, I don't know a dang thing about the NBS trucks, sorry.

I *think* you need to install some resistors on your rears. If the LEDs came with a flasher relay that you replace from your old one, I'd just return it and try another. If this dosent work, put your stock one back in and just apply resistors to all 4 corners.

There are several threads about this, but here's what it boils down to: your truck is smart enough to measure the resistance in the brake/turn circuit and if it detects it's too low (i.e. it thinks a bulb has burned out) things start to not work, like your blink rate turns to hyper speed and the cruise doesn't work. That's your clue to change your bulb out. But, this isn't your situation, you've actually dropped in led bulbs that use a lot less juice, resulting in less resistance, making the truck think a bulb is burnt out when it isn't. So, two solutions: replace the flasher with a led compatible one, or use inline resistors on the taillights to emulate the amp draw incandescent bulbs would be pulling. Most sites that sell led bulbs also sell both solutions. I've found resistors work the best, solving most problems. I like the idea of the flasher better (why add resistance to a circuit only to waste amps to heat loss?) but it didn't solve the cruise control problem for me.

ive got the flasher and installed it but when i signal the only thing that happens is that my brake lights dim. otherwise they are bright all the time.

could my flasher relay be bad???

Firemans right about the resistors being the easiest solution on the NBS but I have read on here where some guys have put a resistor on the 3rd brake light and that fixed the Cruise problem. I would think that would be the the best place to start because you already have the led flasher(assuming it's not bad). Prob the resistor that everyone that has done it is the same one they use for the tailights just use it on the 3rd. Hope ya get it figured out

i did find out today that my cruise will work as long as i dont have my headlights turned on. i had them on automatic and it was getting dark, i had my cruise set and the lights were off. just as soon as the auto lights kicked on the cruise cut off.

Jump on down to the electrical forum and see if someone cant pull up a diagram or whatever and find out how those two interconnect.

That sounds really wrong, if you put your stock flasher in it should flash no problem, but will flash at a rapid rate. Sure you got 3157 bulbs and not something else?

not sure about the bulb type. but with my stock flasher relay the braklights dim when i signal, not flash, just dim. they will flash rapidly if put the hazard lights on.

also my lights behave the same with the LED relay as they do with NO relay

im sending it back tomarro to swap for another. ill see if that works

Ok, did my LED overhaul, got everything @ Amazon.com.
Hella rears, they are sweet, come with built in resistors
four LED to replace the 2 lic. plate lights and 2 to replace the front side markers
two LED to replace the front park/turn
two LED resistors for the above park/turn
I did not replace the rear cab brake light, so my cruise still works (besides I run a cap w/LED brake light)
all the above items where the best price of anyone and delivered in less than five business days.
just search LED lights at Amazon.com

Try putting the bulbs in the tail lights the outer way, brake lights and regular lights could be switched around. had the same problem and that fixed mine. could have just been the bulb type i had though. Its worth giving it a try.
