Windshield Eyebrow Tint Question

Ok yesterday i had an eyebrow tint installed on my 04 lariat by Ziebart in my area..My question is...when they were finished i noticed that either they didnt remove my rear view mirror or maybe its just tinting procedure but where the mirror is mounted on the windshield they cut a slit all way down to the end of the tint then got the slits as close as they could but i could still see light and a slit..i thought that was tacky.. Is that normal to do something like that? then i figured maybe ill put a tiny piece of electrical tape along the slit maybe itll help but my compass thats connected to my mirror is in the way? Is there a way to remove just the compass and not the entire mirror to do this.. Whats everyones take on this..is a slit normal or did they take the easy way out? What would you do if you were me, is there an easy fix? OH and they charged me $60 bucks to. Ty for all replys in advance...

i cant see any tint shop taking off rear view mirrors to do an eyebrow..

i dont think they "took the easy way out" but maybe they didnt put as much time into it as they shoudve..resulting in that space that light gets through

BTW a 5% eyebrow runs for 10 bucks around here

The ones I have had done in the past have removed the mirror but no the button mounted to the windshield. They also did not put a slit anywhere. They cut the tinr around the button very well. got a picture?

I think a good shop would take your mirror off the mount, leaving the mount on the windshield. Then, they would cut an opening very carefully to fit around the mount. Probably, there would be a "slit" at the top, between the mount and the roof, but you would not see that.

K well i called today and asked for a better explaination to why they did it that way..There answer was they had no choice, that they tried to remove the mirror and the windshield was flexing to much and they feared breaking the glass.. but what gets me is over the phone they said they remove the mirror, when i mentioned that he said..some come off some are stuck and to risky. He offered to pinstripe a black line between the slit...

That is the cheater's way of doing the tint. If they were to do it the right way they'd take the mirror off and cut around the mount, not leaving a slit at all.

Without the right tools or experiance removing ford mirrors can break the windshield. They should have for worned you if they were not confident. The compass that snaps to the base of the mirror is also very fragile.
