As the title says, who uses projectors with their HID setup? Conversely, who doesn't?

I'm trying to decide if I need to get new housings for HIDs.

I was thinking about getting L knockoffs with projectors in them because I wanted to put HID in them, but I heard the HID bulbs were too long for the fitment and I would've had to do some cutting on my part to install them. Projectors offer a nice "cut-off" point for HID. They greatly reduce glare for oncoming traffic, but I suggest you DO NOT get these UNLESS you have a bi-xenon kit because the several sets of projectors I have seen and used myself have the low-beams cut so low they are basically useless. However, I LOVE the high-beams. Light seems to go on FOREVER!

 

just get a set of hella housings and youll be fine. even with your harley heads your not going to glare anyone off the road.

and projectors just look fugly

 

theyre not exactly fugly. some people personally like them, but to each his own. I have been told that some projectors will fit halos, and also have heard they wont. One guy told me to just get a pair of silverstars, and that they would do better than the original projector lights. and i do agree with the low beams cut short. thats wh i drive with highs when im out in the boones!

 

I'm running 6000K bi-xenon in the stock housing without any problems of flashes from oncoming traffic. All you need to do is adjust the lights down a little. The HIDs had a distinct "cut-off."

get the projectors. you WILL get use to the cut off and theres always high beams for when you need to see everywhere. i have the projectors with the halos in them with hids (6000k) i love them. i get nothing but compliments and a few of my buddies have bought em now. the cut off line pissed me off at first but i got use to it no problem. and you can always aim them up a little more. thats how i did it atleast. i think theres a pic of em on here in my album. i got the black ones cause my trucks black

 

What projectors did you go with?

Can you post a pic showing the cut off? Park about 20-25 feet from a wall, turn on your lights and take a pic of the wall. I'd like to see how the aftermarket projectors compare to retrofitted ones.

i got em off ebay is all i know and i bought em 200 bucks free shipping plus free 6000k hid ballast and bulb for low beams. let me know your email so i can send these pics easier.

 

I have projector headlights i got off of ebay and on the front of the lens, it says H13 so I bought an H13 HID kit from DDM thinking it would fit but it doesn't...kinda confused on why its not fitting...anyone else run into this problem...here are the headlights I had on already: http://www.octanemotorsports.com/Lig...tml#googlebase

 

i also bought a set of halo projectors that came with the hid kit. ill take a pic of them tommorow if i get a chance

 

I dont run projectors in my duramax and dont really need to.. i have a good pattern.

Ive installed HIDs on a few f150s tho and the pattern is terrible. i think projectors would really help clean up the light.

 

Retrofit FX-R projector in OEM headlight at 25 feet away.

 

Retrofitting is really the way to go.
