Installing recon light bar...

i recently purchased a recon LED tailgate light bar for my truck. i have an 07 stx flareside. the bar is 49" long. I was trying to install it yesterday, i placed it where it "should" mount up. but when i lower my tailgate it presses down right on top of the lights, if i were to lower it all the way it would crush down on the bar and break the lights. Has anyone tried to install one of these on a flareside before? any tips on how to mount it successfully would be much appreciated.

I dont have a flareside but I mounted mine right below the tailgate stop bar. I have the 60'' led recon.

Wow, after looking at mine, I see your problem. I avoided it in the beginning by bolting it on. Do not use the sticky pads. Unscrew them and get a marker, hold your bar on while making marks on where to drill. Also, keep the bar as far down as you can. There should be a outward lip on the bottom of the bed, have the bar up against it. Let me know if this works for you.

The ''Line Of Fire'' has a brake light and left and right blinkers. The '' Fire and Ice'' has the reverse white lights plus the blinkers and brake light.

My Plasmaglow 60" Fire and Ice has:

Off
Running Lights
Left/Right Directionals
Reverse
Brake

All can be run in different combos, except I have yet to use the directionals (with purpose) while in reverse.

Has anyone else seen one of these in person other than your own? I live about 10 miles from my local city and I was going down one of the backroads into town a month or two ago and I was turning onto another street and stopped waiting for a Chevy to fly by me and when I started to turn, I noticed that he had one so I sped up to him, passed him and did a little light show and then he passed me and did the same.

I also saw one on my way home from work one night on the highway. It was a '05 Flareside like j2h1's (diff color) and he was in a caravan with some other -150's and so we passed one another over and over and there were like 5 "lit up" F-150's going down the highway. It was cool. I wish I had someone behind us getting pics.

Recon 60" light bar on a 2005 F-150

I would love to have a Recon light bar on my 2005 F-150! However, about 2' to the right of center on the mounting surface, there is a rectangular protruding hole in the body of the truck. It would be like putting a half of deck of cards under the light bar about 6" from the end. It would appear that then the light bar on the end would not be attached to the mounting surface.
Has anyone else observed this on their 2005 F-150, and have you had any problems mounting the Recon light bar?

Any help would be appreciated! I want one of these light bars but would hate it if this stupid rectangular hole kept me from one.

Thanks fellow F-150 family!!!
