New headlights on a 97 f150

Hey I need some new headlights for my 97 f150. I bought some one piece halo's but they don't fit the way I had hoped and there not very bright. I'm looking for a 2 piece design, clear and some bright bulbs. If anyone can point me in the right direction i'd appreciate it. Thanks

Try Stylinconcepts.com They have some good looking clear one that are only $149 a set for the head lights, not sure what the corners are running. They look good, have a set on my 99.

Sled...

For just under $100.00 and with no S&H....they are sending me a pair of OEM style replacement headlight assemblies with Halogen bulbs!

I'll update on quality and installation when I get them.....can't wait!

What year is was your 97 made? You can check the date on the driver side door jam. Depending on the year, will depend on what lights you will need. I have a 97 F150 that was made in March of 96, and found a set off Ebay.

How difficult (or easy) is it to change a headlight assembly? My passenger side light has dulled over the years. The driver's side was replaced a few years ago after hitting a bird one night.

Replacing your headlight assembly isn't all that hard. Aiming the headlight is sort of a pain though. The adjustments aren't very easily made with the headlight in, so you have to remove it multiple times to get it aimed right.
If you're not dead set on replacing the light you might try just polishing the headlight. For less than $20 at most auto parts stores you can buy a kit with step by step instructions on how to polish the headlight lens. That will really help. Also, a lot of guys on here are using a product from Meguire's that is called Plast-X. Haven't had to use it myself, but they really rave about its ability to restore the clarity of a hazy lens.

Good luck--DIY

Try some 800 grit sandpaper to wet sand, after that follow it up with some plastic X. Remember when using the plastic X to work it into the plastic. I have done this on several sets and have always had great results. Hope this helps!

Well, I gottem super fast!........yeah the wrong ones. I called, she said, gee it's what you ordered, it's showing right.um are you SURE they're the wrong ones?

Hmmm, let me think.....you sent me rectangular, mine is not...so yeah, I'm sure

Ooooooooooohh, you must have the NEW version.

Well it's a 10/96 1997, does that help?

So, they will send me a label to return them...

And
if they find some, they will call me with a price...
AND
if they don't, my CC will be credited and I'll get a post card saying they failed.

It's a wonderful life, ain't it?

New Headlights installed!

Long story short, I got the label to send the wrong ones back at no cost to me. JC Whitney located the correct headlights, called me, told me they were 10 bucks more and got my ok before they shipped them to me for no charge. The correct headlights (with new Halogen bulbs included) set me back a total of $110.00. They look and work fanFREAKINtastic!!! WOW what a difference.

Some tips if you go this route...

The night before you remove the old ones, park about 20 or 30 feet out from a wall and mark a spot for each headlight on low and high beam.

Leave the truck in the same spot for the install tomorrow.

You can get the old headlights out with no tools, but you'll never get the new ones in without removing the top plastic cover across the grill, the turn signals and the grill. None of it was hard to do and I had some Ford door panel plastic plugs on hand to replace the ones that got messed up on removal.

The two clips on each headlight have three posistions. Locked, loose and one higher for removal and installation. Make sure all three alignment pins on both headlights are FULLY installed so the clips will lock in the new ones. This is VERY IMPORTANT and probably the toughest part of the whole job.

Put everything back together and using a very small crescent wrench, adjust the lights to where the old ones were. (If you move the truck before you do this, make sure to put some wheel chocks in front of the tires, so you can get it back in the exact same spot).

Hope this helps and hats off to JC Whitney for 100% customer satisfaction

Ah, I'm going for Lightning-style projector lights as soon as I have soem extra cash. I did use the Meguiars PlastiX tho, FREAKING FANTASTIC!! Worth the $8 or whatever AutoZone charges... Took me about 15-20 applications, a half a bottle of the stuff, and 5 hours (over a period of 3 days) of elbow grease to get my Florida-smoked headlights crystal clear again.
