are you guys doing a light coat of paint over the reflector to make it not stand out so much?

i'm gonna put this on my list of things to do on my mod day if i ever get time off. what do you think about painting the cone in the middle of the reflector black like the HD's have?

not to knock anyones future plans or trucks or anything but im not a fan of niteshade. i seen it on a few cars in person and online and its always a dull surface. i walked past a dodge charger yesterday and a diy nightshaded them and it just didnt look right. in my opinion i love when the headlights and tails shine. the gloss it gives off just finishes a fresh detailed truck. im not sure if u can get a high gloss finish over niteshade but if u can it would look awesome. if not i would go down to my local body shop and ask him to mix black paint w/clear. and spray like a coat over the lenses. this will produce a tinted black taillight that will really shine if thats the look your going for.

you put the niteshade on then shoot clear over them for that shiny look.

The best thing to do after Niteshading anything is have a shop clear coat them for you to gloss well.

did my headlights last night. very happy with the outcome but would re-do if i got the chance.

Word of advice... use the fusion paint!!! i used the "spray any angle" (LIARS!!!!) rustoleum satin black paint.

sanded em down with the 320 paper

used the weights to make sure the seals were good

pretty happy with the outcome but like i said, i'd do it again to use different paint

really wasn't hard to get the lights apart or anything. definitely had to heat them up a few times to get all the silicone out of there! took me a little while to finally finish but saved me a ton of money!!

For you white Expy's...what about painting the inside of the heads white to match? I agree with some of the earlier posts, it does kinda clash with black heads on a white and gold body, so PTM might be the way to go. My truck is black on gold so I will be matching them to the gloss black - as well as adding custom CCFL halos to put a unique touch to it (not even like the aftermarket ones on the eBay projectors...).

Just a thought. If I had another color besides black - especially colors like white, red or blue that stand out - I would probably go PTM. But either way it'll look good.

...and what about painting the sides of the tails and fading it out to "clear" (red, the OEM color). It might give it a different look as if it were integrated into the vehicle differently, and by fading the white color out you would still allow the light out of the side (plus you have the blinkers on the mirrors, right?). Just another thought of mine...

I'd go black and paint your grille to match. I used krylon fusion for plastic(satin) and 320 grit sandpaper. I also sprayed my reflector w/ the same amount of caoats as the whole light(2).

i don't know i think i'm leaning towards PTM... because if I go black it'll be just like any other expy limited... so i think i'm going to go PTM

EDIT: i found to three types of white

Krylon Fusion Gloss White, Satin White, and Flat White

which one should I use?

satin would look the best (IMO). glossy just doesn't seem like it'd fit right and flat... well that doesn't really seem to fit either...
