Might it have something to do with you "think" you know how to set your gains properly? Cause I dont mind educating you on the correct method. Might it have something to do with cranking the tweets on them or on the deck?

Keep it coming, Im in for running this one in circles.
actually sweetheart it aint because they suck i actually like them alot and no i didnt have the gains set wrong or the crossover points the problem with them is fords fault because they designed a crappy 3rd brake light that leaked in rainwater all over my amp and made it short out causing the tweets to fry im just pissed at jl because they dont carry them anymore and i cant seem to get them to fix them for me

Hmm...well after 4 years of abuse, mud, and rain i pulled my 3rd brake light out, tinted the crap out of it, then put it back....and after 1.5 years of more rain, more intsense abuse (because of lift and mudders) etc, it still stands strong, doesn't leak, and all of many amps STILL run super strong...

Maybe you should do your mods yourself....i've done EVERYTHING MYSELF besides bending/welding exhaust pipes....

I liked the way 4 of em sounded in my car loud! ha ha hope they sound as good in my truck 1/0 power cable with 2 150 amp circut breakers to the back wall of the cab into a 2 in 1/0 splitter with 4 2g outs going to my amps there is also a power acoustic 6 farad neon digital cap connected to the free 1/0 input on the splitter. quick question does anyone use welding cable for there power wires its about 2$ cheaper a foot and has the same strands or more in it than that pretty colored clear audio chit you buy in the stores and the rubber jacket is alot stronger against abrasion so that you dont get shorts and fires n stuff . just a suggestion to you people buying that stuff get it cheap at welding supply stores if you hide it no one will ever know. oh and will easily handle lots of current.

So they dont suck now?!?!? Still a little lost because after arguing that its not the XR's, now its a 180 degree swing.

Please dont bash something because you saw it in a sig, then find out its your install err "Fords design" that caused the issue.

so i guess these should have lasted forever since i was overpowering them a little or was it because my amps dont have enough clean power to push them.\

The head tech at my dealer (or service advisor, whatever they're called) recommended to get the powertrain warranty. He mentioned that there's something on the tranny which is a fairly common thing to go wrong, and when it does, it expensive. Wish I could remember what it was. I'll be seeing hinm in about half an hour anyway, to get the recall done and the third brake light fixed, again. (high power carwash made it leak)

apparently im not the only one that has a leaky 3rd brake light there are a few others i doubt it was my install that make it leak and i do all my own work ill never take my stuff to one of those audio shops that think they know wtf there doing when most of em dont some do most dont. and yu get no satisfaction out of it knowing someone else did all the work and you take the credit.

Well, if you had been around this site long enough, you might have followed my like 3 month install process. I deadened my truck before the install, and did some other cosmetic stuff for better sound quality. So yes, i did it all myself too. Except my amps arent shorting out and my speakers aren't exploding.

Maybe you SHOULD have taken yours to a shop...

Why don't people flush their amps on the back wall ? that way you don't see that Eyesore of wiring . I mean really , it would only take maybe a few extra hours . Let me ask you , what looks better in my install , the first picture or the second ?

Ive always loved that setup i saw it awhile back on cardomain/sounddomain.

One of the reasons i did not do that is no one is going to see my amps, my seats dont fold down. i just wanted to organize it a bit. i admit i could do better hahaha but it works for now. maybe when i get sick of this setup ill do something like those pics
