Well, 8 ohm isnt used as a final load much, so your never going to see any amp rated at 8 ohm.

What your going to have to look for is something that does about 300 watts RMS at 4 ohm, so when you wire you 8 ohm sub you will get around 150 watts.

Generally, when ohms decrease by half, wattage doubles.

So if you have an amp rated at say 300 watts at 4 ohm, its probably around 600 watts at 2 ohm, and somthing like 1200 watts at 1 ohm. Thats assuming the amp can handle that low of a load.
Most 2 channel amps bridged (combining the left and right channel) are only stable to 4 ohm, and usually only down to two ohm when each channel is ran by etself...

Well, since I'm getting a 150 Watt rms X 2 @ 4 ohm What would I get if I bridge the 2 channels?

My guess would be around 600ish watts RMS at 4 ohm...so like 300ish rms at 8 ohm. Double the power you need

My girlfriend bought them for me for my birthday! We'll see what an $80 sound system will do. I might ask for some help when they arrive....:o

Yeah, we'll see.... I don't expect much out of $80 worth of ebay junk. But maybe it will be louder than the stock speakers..

I'm building a cheap system. I bought the speakers at Walmarts lol - Two 6x9's 220 watt Pioneers for the back - they were $69 . I'm making my own boxes. I have a Kenwood 400 watt amp that was given to me - it's old but it works, also a Supertuner I bought 2 years agao - never used it yet. I have another set of 6x9's that are 180watts I was going to put in the doors but I dunno if I should just put them in the box I'm making for the back. Just trying to thro something together halfway decent - kinda in the same boat chester, that system looks pretty sweet for 80 bucks lol

Lol, never though I would see JBrew in the audio section

Those 6x9's are going to take some creative cutting to fit in there...

Yeah Yeah, well my cab is gutted - new carpeting lol , so I figured I would put some kind of stereo system in . Hey I have some of those Liquid cooled Advent 600 watt house speakers. I'm building an encloser to stuff under the rear seats. Can I use house speakers instead in the truck or no..??

I guess Im not sure exactley what speakers your talking about, BUT, some of the best and most popular vehicle subs were made with the intention of being for home audio...

Okay cool , I just didn't know if there was some reason they wouldn't work under a different type of power supply - I grounded my fuel pump to take out that whirring sound. I'll see how all this stuff works by next week sometime. - do they usually put someting in the sub boxes , like foam or insulation for better sound?

Thanks Bartak - guess your the only one alive over here..I don't know sh^t about audio crap , maybe I would have better luck asking questions in the engines section lol..

Maw Audio has some extremely cheap shallow mount subs. They supposedly sound good too.
