Well i purchased an 2012 f150 fx4 with the ecoboost engine and apperance package, the dealer looked for quite a while to find the truck i wanted, i actually made the deal with him on the phone without even seeing the truck, its loaded with everything even moonroof, but when he pulled it on the lot the day i purchased it, i noticed it had 20" black ford wheels, well it did have that on the sticker that he forwarded to me, but i didnt pick up on it, i just cant seem to like the black wheels, my wife and son loves them but i was thinking about swapping them for chrome or alum ford wheels, anyone live in the central pa area looking for black wheels.. thanks

 

You are outvoted 3 to one. Wife gets 2 votes. You had better stick with the black and learn to like them. What color is your truck?

 

I tend to agree with your family. The wheels really aren't the unpopular portion of that package, the strip is the part that is almost universally despised. I am surprised to see someone dislike them(although you are more than entitled to your opinion).

ill get some pics up, but it is tuxedo black, and u really cant see the stripe down the side, it actually dont look to bad black on black

 

I agree. I was very anti stripe until I saw it in person. Looked better than the pics.

 

I saw the black/black and fell in love with it....I have seen the other colors with the stripe and I think the black truck with stripe is the best looking. So I decided I needed one and ordered it....waiting for mine to be built yet

 

The black wheels along with the matched interior would be the only reasons i would get an appearance package. The stripe is the thing to have removed...that things hideous. Black wheels > chrome all day long IMO.

 

There are a couple colors that the stripe looks good on. There are more colors the stripe looks awful on.

I'm on the fence with the black rims too. I'm surprised they didn't swap them out for the gray ones for you - somebody surely wants the black rims over the gray ones.

i have the 18"s that come on the fx4's. i wanted black 20's but they were on backorder when i ordered my truck. ill swap if thats something youre interested in. im in Albany NY. If we met halfway it wouldnt be a bad drive. PM me if youre interested

 

I picked up my 12 EB race red FX4 loaded with the app package last weekend. Drove it home from Oklahoma Saturday and peeled the stripe off Sunday. The blacks wheels are great, and I normally was not a black wheel fan. I seem to get compliments everywhere I go, especially on the interior. People can't believe it's a factory truck! Between having this truck and my 05 I'm in heaven
