Lincoln LT in Mexico

I spent a couple of weeks in Mexico last week and I was in the town of Playa Del Carmen and I was taking a walk through town when I came across a brand new Lincoln LT? It was almost identical to my Platinum except that it had the different grille and badges. The interior however was identical to the Platinum. I don't understand why they still make the LT and sell it in Mexico, but from this article, it sells pretty well down there. I personally am glad we have the Platinum edition, because I really did not care for the look of the new LT, the Platinum just looks so much nicer. Oh well just thought I would pass it along

In MX they still highly regard the Lincoln name. So it works there.

Something just doesn't sit right with that front end. There isn't a thing different than the F-150 other than that grille. It looks like some cheesy aftermarket grille. Reminds me a lot of the Rolls Royce grilles that were slapped on the old VW Beetles. Obviously, it was cheaper for FoMoCo to change just the grille, but nothing about the rest of the truck says its a Lincoln.

I actually like the Lincoln grill on the new 2011 MKX, I really think the 2011 MKX is a beautiful vehicle, especially the limited. I do agree with you on the LT grill, it did not look any better in person. I also wonder about the new grill on the Superduty's, I myself like it, looks bold and gives it a tough look, but I can see why others would not like it and I have heard some comments that some people do not like it at all. I think that it will be changed in 2012.

I generally like the styling of Lincoln's vehicles. This grill just looks out of place when the rest of the truck is no different than the F-150. Looks like an afterthought to me.

Also, not a big fan of the latest Super Duty front end. It isn't proportionate with the rest of the truck, nor does it fit with the rest of the truck's late 90s styling. I much preferred the 07 and older SD exterior, but it was starting to look dated. I also liked the 08-10 SD front end. It reminds me a lot of the mid-60s Ford trucks which had the turn signal above the headlight:

Ditto, the new Super Duty front end is a major eye sore IMO.

They like to grab part's from different manufacturer's and make their own vehicles in Mexico anyway. Was in Cancun year's ago and they had Suburban taxi's made from Chevy and GMC part's, and these were brand new vehicles. Chevy nameplates on the inside and GMC on the outside!

I spent two weeks there and never once felt in danger! Walked around everynight. Good and bad there just like here.
