First Oil Change

So, I've always been a little weird about changing the oil early on new vehicles. I tried to wait to 7,500 miles, but I couldn't help myself and I changed it at 3,580 miles. I pulled the drain plug and took an oil bath due to my poor positioning; dumba--. Needless to say, I will be getting a Fumoto valve to put on the next time. My second oil spill issue came when I pulled the filter. I didn't realize that the plastic drip tray had a drain on the front AND the side. There I laid on the creeper watching the oil miss my strategically placed oil pan. I give credit to the Ford engineers for considering DIY people that put their vehicles up on ramps to change the oil. I'm sending the oil off to Blackstone for an analysis. I'll post the results when I get them back.

Link to Valve

Very nice little valve . I have one on my truck and make things very easy.

Plus I have never put my truck up on ramps I just crawl under there and pull the lever and pull the filter.

I googled Fumoto Valve cause I've never heard of it and BAM! that is a thing of beauty, for sure.

Got to have this but not sure which one is for the 2010 5.4. Is it the F101 or F106? Do you recommend with or without the nipple?

Apologize if this is jacking the thread, I don't believe so but please let me know so I can post a new thread with my questions.

F-106.

You do not need the nipple.

There are a couple of places to order from (one gives free shipping if ordering two), but if you order here:

http://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/

use discount code YM4 for 10% discount.

i would get it with the nipple just in case you ever have to hook a drain hose to it and its the same price.

With nipple, is three dollars more.

You will never need the nipple on the truck application we are talking bout.

And, the nipple makes the valve stick out/down even more, which some people are uncomfortable with how much proud it is even without the nipple.

I have the valve with the nipple for my Taurus X and the one I had on the old F-250. Considering I used 15 qts of oil in the 6.0L, putting a hose on it to direct the old oil right into an old container was a major bonus. I'm so kicking myself for not buying it before I changed the oil. I forgot how handy they were.

Do a google search on fumoto valve, then click on images and you will see many pics.

And, if someone here posts one on the exact year and truck you ask for, even better, but until then, the google search will show what you need to know..

Thanks

I'm liking the hose option with the nipple but just noticed on the website there is a straight and 90 nipple available. Which would work better on a '10 5.4L?

Why is this valve $12 more on the Fumoto Canada site?

Because that site wants more of your money. That's why.
