Anybody install a Nav Lockpick?
Anybody install a Nav Lockpick?
I'd like to use ALL of the Navigation functions while driving and was wondering if anyone installed a Lockpick type system yet on their '09 F150.
Like this, for example: http://www.coastaletech.com/synclockpick.htm
I was thinking of this one because you can also use it to easily add rear-seat entertainment.

Thats a good idea for a front cam setup. I cant ever judge how far i am from a car in front when im parking the 09. Im always about 4ft away but feel like im touching the other car lol gonna see if i can get a badge cam for the front like the rear now.
That's pretty awesome, but I don't think it's $300 awesome. I think one of the biggest gripes people have is the disabled address input to the navigation, but you CAN input addresses verbally while moving via Sync. It's actually much easier than typing it in! I just wanted to share with everybody in case they were unaware.
Wow! This is gonna sound stupid, but I didn't realize you could play a DVD in the nav system!
This is an awesome thing, but it is pricey! I had a bypass on my Pioneer headunit and it was only $49 off eBay. Maybe the price will come down.

To be honest it's a great idea if ya want to crash and kill someone. Might as well just use sync! At least then you dont have to take ya eyes of the road.

I done over 3500miles now and not once needed to use it whilst moving. I use nav day in day out as i have only just moved to this area and dont know where anything is. I think it's over priced for what it really offers. The sync system works fine if people really are that worried about using it whilst driveing.
There are NUMEROUS times when my passenger wants to watch a DVD along with the rear seat occupants, nobody is saying the driver is watching while driving. What, you picture me driving on the freeway with a beer in one hand and a cell phone in the other watching the Simpson's movie?! There are several critical options (like my passanger entering a destination) that are greyed out while in drive that I find annoying. If it takes $300 to fix this, it's worth it. I guess I'll be the guinea pig and buy this puppy.

That's what I was talking about. In my parents CX-7 the NAV system is useless unless you already programmed in your destination (or want to change you destination). In my $200 garmin GPS, I can change anything as I please. Allowing the factory system to do this, is worth the money, IMHO.

Sync lets you control every function the nav controls. As an example you can turn on the AC and turn up the fan by just speaking to the system after pressing the sync button on the steering wheel. You can choose songs and artist and it will play that track you asked it to play. You can add destinations by just saying them. It's a great system and works very well. Basicly push sync button and tell it what you want it to do.
