Agreed. Unlike the '97's, the '04's had lots of issues. '09 is a skip-over year in my book also. The 2010's will have the new EcoBoost engines anyways; more than worth the wait if you are in need of a pickup truck/replacement vehicle in the near future.

Not sure where that came from. Might be an lod post but the line speed at KCAP is close to 60 an hour and has not been slowed. KCAP does not have any waiting for repairs any longer. In fact, we start Job 2 tomorrow morning.

The 2010.5/2011 will have a new engine so are you gonna wait until they get all the problems out the way then wait for 2011.5/2012??? You would be waiting your whole life if you didnt buy something just because it's new. Heard this same stuff on mtbr.com when i bought my new Mountain bike, Heard it on HPI.com when i bought my Baja 5b ss heard it on AVforums when i bought all my home cinema setup, Heard it on Mastercraft forums when we bought our new Wakeboard boat, Heard it on PS forums when i bought my PS3 and every person saying dont buy the new version was a last gen owner. I always buy early and have never had problems. I feel it's more luck of the draw. It dont matter what product it's for there's always someone gonna say they have problems and that is what warrenty is for is it not?

Blackf-150 you got the links to them threads. I just been on there to check it out but cant find nothing about it. Thanks

Also unless it's from the mouth of someone whos at that factory then i would take things people say with a pinch of salt. Dearbourn derek would prob be the man to speak to but as screwbuilder as already said the info from that site seems to be a bit miss leading.

I can't find it now either, think I was wrong on KC and it was dearborn, because they started build last but u are right DD is a good source, the link I read was from a auto worker in the plant but with everything going on now who knows, I do know my experience with my 04 wasn't a pleasant one and I may get an 09 but will wait until at least summer

The following is a list of the different production stages and what they mean, so that you can ask the dealer for the current status....

Receipt Date: The date that MS&S recorded the order.
When the order is received from the dealers

Serialize Date: The date that MS&S transfers the order to MP&L and the VIN is created. When the order is received by Material Planning and parts are ordered

Segment Date: The date that MP&L determines which week the order will be built. When they figure what week that parts will be able to be delivered to the plant to build the vehicle

Sequence Date: The date that MP&L determines which day the order will be built. When they figure what day that parts can be at the plant to build the vehicle

Blend Date: The date that MP&L determines when the order will be built within the assigned day. When they figure the specific order that vehicles will be built. This depends on options and line constraints.

Produced Date: The date that VO finished assembling the vehicle Your unit has been built!

Gate Release Date: The date that VO transfers the vehicle to Transportation Carriers for shipping Your unit has left the building, and is in the hands of the shipper (rail or truck)

Ship Date: The date the vehicle left the Assembly Plant Your unit has left the load site, and is on it's way to the dealer

Arrival Date: The date the Dealership received the vehicle Your dealer has the unit in hand, doing the dealer prep thingy

Sold Date: The date the Customer picked up the vehicle You came in, looked it over, said, "I'll take it!" and signed the papers

************************

Gate release is sometime called plant release or something similar on some updates. As of last thursday this is the status of my truck, which indicated that is clean for shipment, no rework required. In my area, new 2009 F150 are arriving daily, but I can't speak for other areas.

Mine was a few $ sort of $50k but i have the 6.5ft bed i just noticed. I was told when i bought mine that the mirrors would be the same as normal but they extend but a few weeks after i was told they was the massive ones. But they wouldnt let me chage my order. I will be very happy if they are this size.

The 4x4 platinum have comming has a MSRP of $47,635 includeing Nav, Moonroof, 355 limited slip, tailgate step, Black with stone interior, so that saves a little money on as the tri-coat paint is about 450 in the US.

It appears that some of the packages are different in Canada, as the Moon Roof as listed as standard on the invoice shown and the bigger mirrors were required with Max trailer tow i the US.... Strange, you would have thought the packages would have been the same. The trailer brake controller is also listed as standard on Canadian orders.

Some of these may have been standard with the Platinum, but I can't remember the distinctions...

63S Pickup Box Access Steps
435 Power Sliding Rear Window w/Privacy Tint
157WB 157" Wheelbase
43M 1 Touch Open/Close Power Moonroof
58N Radio: Navigation/InDash Screen/Sony Single DVD/CD
XH9 Limited Slip w/3.55 Axle Ratio
76R Reverse Sensing System
99V Engine: 5.4L 3V EFI V8 FFV
54C Heated Power Fold Side Mirrors w/Memory
76C Rear View Camera
86P Platinum Package
DX_03 (3 P) Dark Blue Pearl Clearcoat Metallic
413 Skid Plates

I love my 03 Excursion, but its time for a change...
