Really sorry to hear this, guys...

I can tell you that several were out there... several were rolling down the line... I drove several. Bummer that they're not shipping -- I wonder what the *real* issue is with this lack of release.

I hope you guys find out some info soon. Keep in mind, you guys are trying to order the truck before the launch, and you knew in the summer that it was going to be delayed a few months.

Could be something specific to the Plat model, like the brushed aluminum grille having weathering issues, laminated windshield having visibility issues or attempts to solve lack of remote start.

I can tell you that I ordered mine in June. Can't wait. Joined here so I could read more about it cause there doesn't seem to be much information about the Platinum as I would like to see. Now, I have been told it is built and sitting on a lot somewhere and might be delivered end of month. Shoot me...

Well after a fair amount of digging, I was told that Ford had reject some Platinum specific part(s). The replacement parts have been recieved and Platinum's should start rolling down the line next week.... Mine is also scheduled for a November 17 buck date.... If that holds true the truck should complete assembly November 19 or 20th, assuming no release issue shipping out here is typically 7 to 10 days so I am expecting the truck to be here for my birthday 12/6, maybe slightly before

The truth is I think Dearborn Derek heard our plea, kicked some *** when he went back to work, and now we are going to get ourPlatinums.

I've driven a Screw 4x4 6.5 plat w/ max towing package. It was nice but it wasn't $12K worth of a premium nicer then a 08 King Ranch/Lariat. My biggest complaint is the lack of power. I must say EVERY other truck on the market is going to be faster in day to day driving. It seems quite but then again anything seems quite when your used to riding on Mud Terrains. I'd say it very similar in power and noise to our 07 Ford Expedition, which it shares parts from if i'm not mistaken. Is it a nice truck, yes, do I think it's one of the best values out there, heck no, it's kinda pricy (note this is not because I can't afford one, I just don't see a great value yet).

Heard similiar from others on here! No WAY I'd buy an '09 with the same engine as my '04. Until a new engine choice is there, I'll wait. Acceleration and merging from stop are the two biggest complaints I have in terms of no power currently, plus of course the horriffic engine whine of the 5.4 triton. 6 speed is great, but I'll also take an EcoBoost, please. Thank you. 2009, I'll pass. Let's see what '10 brings, if anything.

Very interesting...

I wouldn't think that there is a huge difference in parts. While I know that the interior and some 'creature comforts' are different, most (or all?) of the mechanical system will be a carbon copy.

Any specifics on what parts were problematic?

I was not able to uncover what particular component(s) were the hold up from my connections. It could have been somthing as simple as a off color / poor finish on a component. One possible is the dash - if you look closely in the 2009 users manual there is a labeling error on the Platinum dash, not sure if this was due to graphics for the manual or do to the part being manufactored with the wrong markings.

Some of the more significiant mechinal differences include:
Power retractable running
Power steering wheel tilt column
Rain sensing windsheld wipers

The remaining platinim specific items are mostly trim / accent pieces but will stop the build of a platinum truck including but not limited to:

unique grill, body color bumpers, unique wheels, high gloss black B-pillar, tailgate appilique, unique brushed aluminum applique of center panel and console, unique leather seats, unique scuff plates and instrument panel.

I agree, those of us who have spent time with tuners/intakes/performance packages etc.. and at dyno days to get these things to perform to our expectations, the power options and continued throttle lag on the 09 are a very disappointing... Ford did a great job on the capability side, though I would trade some of that for a decent power train option since I do not and would not ever use the truck to it's full potential on that side anyway.

One positive note with the 6 speed, we have an 08 Edge w/ 6 speed trans that I put a 93 octane custom perfromance tune on ( Evolution Performance ) and that little thing kicks a$$ now, throttle response is A+, 6500 rms shifts and only drops to 5000 rpm after the shift, keeping it in the powerband all through WOT. Security for our custom tuners that frequent the tuning section, more business is on the way, but you xcal2 guys need the additional memory of an xcal3 to load the tune files with this trans !

It appears that the long wait is finally coming to a end. Called the dealer yesterday and their latest status from Ford is that my Platinum Truck completed assembly thursday November 13th.. Hope to have rail car and estimated delivery information early next week.

Dearborn Truck appears to be running ahead of schedule, My schedued buck date prior to last week was November 17th. Hopefully there will not be any delays associated with the release for shipment... I am estimating delivery just prior to Thanksgiving.

Good luck. Mine (Lariat) has been sitting on the Dearborn lot since early October and three delivery dates have passed. Still do not know when they will load it on a train.
