I know people who know all the **** about the new F150 but he couldn't tell me any details but he did say that "the 4.4 diesel will do ALOT more than people will expect and the 6.2L not so much." I don't know what he meant by "not so much" and thats all he would tell me. I'm working to find out what kind of tranny they plan on putting in there.

I don't think so...

For what it's worth I don't see the F-150 getting 400HP and 400lbs./ft TQ.

I can see people leaking this kind of stuff to spur interest, but I don't think Ford has the guts to pull the trigger on that much power in an F-150. I've been after them for years to make a 4V 5.4L Triton an option at say 350HP or so, that should be an easy task and would attract a lot of "upscale" buyers but they aren't interested.

400/400 sounds great but I don't think we'll ever see it!

People that want trucks don't necessarily need to get 20 MPG either. I want mine to be a TRUCK not a gas sipping around town cruiser. My Y2K F-150 tows great and can haul a fair amount. I'd like to see 1500+ lbs hauling capacity IN ALL MODELS and the 9,500 lbs. towing IN ALL MODELS. I don't know what the current models get for mileage but I get about 17 most of the time, up to 19 or so on road trips. These are acceptable numbers for what the truck does.

If Ford has a prayer at keeping up with Toyota, then they had better have 400hp out of the new F150. As much as I hate to say it, the Tundra really raises the bar on torque and horsepower in half-ton trucks.

If Ford wants the F150 to remain the #1 selling truck, then they are going to have to build the #1 truck. Anything less than the power numbers the Tundra is showing is going to be too little too late.

Personally, I have my eye on this new diesel that is supposed to be going in the new half ton. If Ford can put this motor in the half ton and get 25 mpg out of it, then they'll remain the #1 selling truck on the road. If Ford comes out with a new body style and a 350 hp DOHC Triton that gets 16 mpg in 2009, they'll lose a big chunk of the truck market.

I think there has been more talk then there has been proof. I'm not trying to say there isn't going to be a BOSS or a diesel... just I haven't seen convincing proof yet.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see the '09 with the same engine and transmission line up as now. Ford is renown for doing that. I can mention quite a few instances Ford staying with the same old junk where there was a talk of the town in the power and drivetrain department, and wound up only a huge body change. (Like going from NBS from OBS [03 to 04] as far as engines, the same exist since '97 with minor improvements.)

Again, I'm not for sure... no one is for sure.

Personally, I'd like to see a 6.2l BOSS and a small diesel for the F150.

I'm not knocking Ford at all... I would see it in their best interest like all of you guys are.

Am much as it pains me to say this being a lifelong Ford guy, If they don't offer the 09 with a 6.2L and a 6 speed w/@ 400 Hp well GM will be as they recently announced the 6.2L will replace the new 6.0L when the new 6 speed filters down through their lineup. For has a horendous record of chasing the old leader. Example: When the new 97 F-150 debuted in Jan 06 (with the 4.6 L) well then 6 months later they offerd the new 5.4L with 260Hp, 5 more than the then leader Vortec 5.7L. Then GM leapfrogged us with the 5.3L (in HP anyway not tq). Well For said enough is enough and we're going to show everyone now, so for the then all new 2004 we have a mighty 300HP 3V. Never mind they had to annouce that they had the lead in the HP wars in Nov 02 as the next day Dodge announced the HEMI with 345. (keeping in mind you couldn't buy the new Ford until the following August) Well its now 2007 vs. 2002 and we still only have the 300 5.4L. We have the slowest truck empty or loaded for the past 3 model years. Don't get me wrong I love my 04 (other than the fact the engine sounds like it was made in Eastern block Europe pre 89!) So why should I be loyal to Ford when they just don't get it! Somedays I think they deserve to go under with their poor decision making. I guess next time I'm pulling my trailer and wish I had more jam I shoudl just be thankful I have the stongest leaf bolts in the industry, cause we all know how the other makes are stranded on the side of the road with broken leaf bolts! A smuch as I think this tiem Ford will get it right, I look at tthe new Superduty with a brnad new engine and it didn't "have the lead" for even one day as the new GMs outpull em w/their 6 speed vs. our 5. When we can't even see that coming on the HD end..... At least our diesels are more relieable. Ooops!

And thats my rant of the day. Prove me wrong Ford.

The initial versions of the Boss will have two-valves-per-cylinder, two spark-plugs per cylinder and likely employ a form of cylinder or valve deactivation for increased fuel economy.
great now we'll have 16 spark plugs that wont come out

So you think the current multi million dollar lawsuit that Navistar has against Ford is all marketing ploy?

Those guys are good....

I beleive they will have the baby diesel, Ford has confirmed production, and I beleive they will have a larger engine perhaps a 6.2L, what I question, is the output of the newer, larger V8? Hopefully we'll find out in Jan @ NAIAS. Or they'll do what Toyota did and hold back final specs until they are ready to hit the streets??

ford also hasn't been known for revealing official plans on building new engine options so early, and i wouldn't be surprised to see the new F-150 come with a 4v 5.4L triton that produces around 350 HP and 380 TQ, i mean everyone says HP sells but im pretty sure the new Tundra is a total flop even though it is a fast truck, their incentives are insane for something that just came out, but i am that person that wants that huge 6.2L Boss in front of me while i am driving

we could expect it as an option after some months of the new model being out, but we really need some excitement in the power options, at least for me

yeah how did that turn out for Toyota

$3,500 off the sticker or zero-percent financing for up to five years, or $500 off the down payment on a three-year lease
