new lightning anyone?
new lightning anyone?
As for the new Boss engine....I can wait 2-3 years before I trade up
Wouldnt that be sick though?? I would love to have a large displacement, mildly factory tuned engine producing 420hp!! With TP tune, exhaust, and intake....Oh my goodness, the possibilities...You guys have me all excited now.......Might have to reconsider my idea of getting a Powerstroke next time around!

It's called confidentiality and pretty standard practice for R&D work. They tend to take it pretty seriously too.

but didnt want to jump to conclusions.
i looked at a dodge website and they are all saying that it will just be a bored out triton...LOL, of course they said the new Hemi will be like 420 HP and it would kick the "p*ssy a** fords butt", its funny one guy said "ford made their trucks heavy and stronger for towing stuff, but people don't buy trucks for that"...LOL but they said there will be a new hemi coming out and it would be faster yet i have spent over an hour searching for a new hemi but to no avail, just a new hemi for the new challenger which will be a limited production car probably like the SRT-8's 6.1L hemi
my dad talked to a guy at ford and they said that it will be in the new F-150, but then again they said there would be a new lightning
if they put the 6.2L Boss in the new F-150 i will get a reg cab with it in it, i also heard that SVT will resume the Lightning for the new re-designed platform, which will be lighter, but i will not be able to afford a new lightning so a reg cab with a 6.2 will be enough
but they need a 6 speed to get every ounce of power out of it

personally I think ford would do much better by developing more hp out of the 5.4. I know if the mustang can get 300 hp out of the 4.6 and the gt 500 can get 500 hp out of a 5.4. clearly ford could get more hp out of the 5.4 offered in there trucks. I have seen v6's claiming 280. I think the 5.4 drinks enough gas as it is I can just imagine how much gas the 6.2 or 7.0 would drink. I know gas prices have been hurting fords sales as of late. they have to take this into consideration when they redesign in 09. I also would think they would be making a big mistake not to offer a 6 speed tranny.

Isn't it funny how the biggest complaint about the 150 is the lack of a powerful engine to compete with the competition, yet at the very same time the #1 factor in the diminishing sales of the 150 is gas mileage. Those two items don't seem to go hand-in-hand, it's kind of like one or the other, and personally my truck can haul, tow and plow anything right now, so I'd much rather have improved gas mileage over any other improvement. I truly believe any decent step in this direction will help their sales more than any other factor (not that the other stuff isn't great and I want everything(
), I'm just saying). I don't think Ford will be talking about the '09's any time soon, seeing as the '08's aren't even out yet and they don't want to turn off potential sales by talking up a redesign too soon.

Ford is good for more then that. Go look up the 500hp/500f/lb 5 liter cammer crate motor.
Won't pass emissions, but it's got STONES!

My number two complaint is that the truck is kinda a dog compared to the competition when it comes to acceleration and braking, but this won't prevent me from buying the truck.
I don't think this is an "either-or" compromise between fuel economy and power. With the new direct injection technology, Ford should be able to make gains in both fuel economy and power. Hopefully Ford keeps in mind that even if the displacement increases, people are going to expect a fuel economy improvement over the 5.4l.
