Getting 2019 wheels/tires for my 2008 F150 - TPMS sensor swap?

Do I need to swap the TPMS sensors from the old wheels onto the new wheels, or can I use the newer TPMS sensors on my 08 F150?

Thanks

They are both 315 MHz but they do not cross reference to each other. So, I don't know if they will work or not.

so, worst case scenario I can just have discount tire swap the TPMS into the new wheels right?

I don't see why that wouldn't work, but, I also imagine Discount Tire knows what needs to be done in your situation. They do this kind of thing all the time, after all.

The problem with the old ones is, they may be very near the end of their service life.

Yup, that is my concern as well. However the truck is a 2008 and Im sure they have been replaced at some point consider they say TPMS only has a 8 year life max. It just sucks because its gonna costs $20/tire to swap them over at least no matter what, and thats assuming they are good sensors

Ask them how much new sensors would cost, compare that to the cost of swapping them. However, the 2019 sensors *might* work, ask that first.

My '07's still work.

I guess miles figure in, nearing 70K

Ask them at DT if they can reprogram, if the new ones will work?

I have an 08 with 108k miles. No TPMS issues. Now I probably just jinxed myself.

If the 2019 sensors don't work in your truck, I believe you can disable the TPMS with Forscan.

So a quick update.

I installed the new 2019 F150 wheels and they had no sensors. Driving around the TPMS light came on briefly but it hasn't been back on in a few days. Not sure what's going on but I hope it stays off.
