Thinking about lowering my 4x4 more. .. currently 3/5. Have few ?s

I know I've seen few trucks on here that are about 2 " lower than mine and aware of issues with driveline angles(cv),etc. . Thinking about going with DJM a-arms and flip kit . Other concern is towing capacity. My truck is a Dailey driver and tow a heavy boat often in summer. Should I stick with what I have or take it to another level ? Any input is appreciated !

If it were for street use only, I'd say go ahead and lower it more if you'd like. However, if you plan to tow and use it as a truck, I wouldn't go any lower.

Just my opinion. Truck looks great and you can 100% tell it's much lower than stock already.

The truck looks great to me. I see you have chrome rear bumper. If you add the chrome side step / rails they'll go a long way to making the truck "look lower" and they'll set off your bumpers. If you lower the truck more and pull that trailer you are gonna grow to hate the bump when the axle contacts the frame stops.

You can go as low as you want and still use your truck. Height does not give or take away from a truck being a truck.

I personally do not care for flip kits, hangers, shackles and lowering leafs offer enough amounts of drop, but flip kits are pretty cheap. Just add some helper bags to prevent the rear end sagging.

Thanks for the input guys ! Looks like I'll probably keep the truck as it sits and go with a nice set of helper bags from " Air Lift " . My truck was originally chromed out to the max being a Lincoln truck. I literally replaced the chrome headlights, grill, hood, front bumper, door handles, tail gate handle, chrome rocker moldings, removed chrome bed rails, replaced mirrors with newer f150 mirrors painted ,even had 3rd brake light custom painted to make it a simple, body matched design. Just waiting till after lake season to have rear bumper powder coated pearl white

Well, aside from that whole "ground clearance" thing, lol. I also think they ride rougher than hell with the 30/35-series tires and minimal suspension travel, but that's just me. Sure, you can still tow/haul things, but it sure makes the trip a lot more taxing when you feel every bump!

OP, I wouldn't lower it any further. You might run into some issues when launching the boat if the ramps you use aren't perfect. I use a few that have some busted concrete here and there, which could get you caught up on the under carraige.

I think the step rails on lowered trucks looks silly, personally. I think I'd go with some side skirts PTM that would offer a lowered look that wouldn't affect ground-clearance or stick out.

Good call ! It is nice being able to go to any car wash, speed bumps, etc. .. I can see where dragging receiver hitch ' s would be a concern.. I'm glad you guys point out things like that to help keep it pratical and better in the long run ")

I removed the chrome steps it had on it. I think I'm going to leave it alone for the most part after I powder coat bumper. The lincoln trucks have chrome rockers that have holes drilled through the sheet metal with alignment tabs and mounting hardware. Makes it hard to find any aftermarket pieces that cover it without completely removing rocker panels and filing in the holes and painting, etc. ..

That depends on who uses them and why they do so don't it?

Seriously though, side skirts painted to match the body would do the same thing ..... make the truck look lower and hide frame details without actually lowering it more .... they would look fabulous on "go-on3's" truck (but not so much on mine, different "look").

Between the step rails and the Husky stone guards on my "only 2 inch lowered" truck I find that hardly any road debris or mud get's to the lower rockers and I "step in" over them without using them now.

You can probably easily go an inch more without much difference

What does CV axle angles look like up front?

your only limiting factor is that you are 4x4 and the front axle that bind lower then 3".

other then that you can go as low as you want. and still tow.

I'm laying frame on my 07 fx2 and was towing my 7000lbs toy hauler juste like when stock or 3/5 with helpers.
I now have a 7x14 enclosed trailer and still the same.
Ohh and I can still haul anything I which in the bed even with a 6" step in it. from my motorcycle, toolbox, wood, etc.
