A spray in bed liner would probably be better, given your environment.

Lookin good! If you have the time for all this work, have at it! I don't nowadays.

Anyway, you fixed a good amount of stuff but didn't read about fixing the "not being able to go in reverse" That one seems like a biggie, you fix that yet or do you have a few guys push you out of parking spots?

That is probably what I will end up doing. It is not a work truck but mostly to transport the odd bigger cargo that doesn't fit in my sedan. As well as a little off-road driving.

Transmission rebuild will start next week. I purchased the following parts for the job:

- Ford AODE 4R75E High Performance Transmission Master Rebuild Kit
- Ford AODE ATSG Transmission Service Manual Rebuild Overhaul
- Hayden 26,000 GVW Transmission Cooler with installation kit (Yes, this seems overkill but costs only $15 more than a 12,000 GVW rated cooler).

Typically, torque converters do not need to be replaced but since I'm new to the reliability of Ford products, I purchased a rebuilt one from http://www.torqueconverter1.com. I inquired into the torque converter and have been told that this is an upgrade from the oem Ford torque converter due to their remanufacturing process (found below):

Remanufacturing Process

Each part goes through 5-step quality inspections.
Each part is machined for smoothness & cleaness.
We tig many of our converters as a standard procedure.
All lockup surfaces are machined for smooth surface.
All of our converters are pressure tested to prevent leaks.
All of our converters are balanced for vibration.
All of our converters are checked for runout.
Finally, all of our converters are spin-checked using input shaft.

* 1 year limited warranty on all converters except high performance & industrial converters.

Today:

I forgot that I purchased a used passenger-side tail light due to a crack in my current tail light. The process took less than 5 minutes.

Before:

Replacement Taillight:

After:

Yes, the rust hole is that bad (Will be on that in the coming weeks).

Replaced the coolant expansion tank cap. I was talking to a friend (Ford Diesel Specialist) that I should replace it.

Turns out that it has been replaced before but with an aftermarket version. I replaced it with a Motorcraft cap.

Pictured (Upper-left is Motorcraft, Lower right is aftermarket).

Be careful with the rust; hate to see you drop all this money into that truck and have it rust apart.

That rust hole is NASTY! Is that the only area of rust? How does the frame look?

I would also check under the bed, I had lots of rust there I had to deal with earlier this year.

Jeez, that rust hole is crazy. The previous owner obviously didn't bring the truck back to the dealer for the butyl pad removal TSB. That's the reason you have that huge hole right there.

Other than that, seems like you got a good deal and you're doing some good work.

I don't think the lower right cap is aftermarket. I bought my truck brand new in 2008 and it has the same cap. It's never been replaced.

Since the recall expired in 2006, there's not much I can do. I'll be cutting that portion out and repairing it.

Maybe not but when I checked the inside of the new cap I purchased, it had FoMoCo all around the edges where as the old one did not.

That rust hole has been there for a couple years according to the previous owner. I checked frame and it looks great! Other than the rust hole, it's minor rust in the usual problem areas of the truck (door and fuel door cap).

I know it expired, was just saying the PO should have dealt with it. Some people just don't care enough, I guess.

And it's possible ford changed the cap since 2008.

That may be the case then. Manufacturers upgrade parts over the years and sometimes update the part number as well.

Forgot to post this.

Swapped tires a few weeks ago. The previous owner had tires that were not matching front and rear. I purchased these from an acquaintance. Has 9/32 tread. I'm planning on upgrading to studded tires for the winter.

Now my tires match for all 4 wheels.

My headlights arrived at my U.S. warehouse earlier today. Still waiting on my module for DRL turn signal swap. Since the new headlights are HIDs, I have heard of flickering issues for using the DRL (Mandatory in Canada) with them (Which could lead to a shorter life span for the HID lights.) Once the module arrives, I'll be packaging them up together and shipping them to Canada.
