2005 5.4 vs 2009 5.4

Just out of curiosity which truck would when in a race? Newer or older 5.4 I'm not sure of the differences between the two besides it being newer with a few more gears

Given that the cabs are the same, and the bed lengths are, along with the drivetrains both being 2wd/4wd, I would say the 2009 with the updated 6spd automatic transmission with a lower first gear will get the jump from the start and shift faster through the gears finishing off the 2005 with the 4spd automatic. Along with the downfall of the 2005 being more lean from factory ( nothing mentioned about tuning of mods ) that I feel the 2005 would not have a chance. The Supercrew cab of the 2009 is 6"s longer than the Supercrew of the 2005, but that will be a very minimal weight disadvantage.

Not that you are going to race or anything

Hand's down, the 2009 would win! To be perfectly honest, the '04 - '08 trucks are pretty much dogs without a custom tune, and all of the Dodge's and Chevy's I have driven will run circles around them in terms of "speed-oriented" performance. Now torque and grunt off the line might be a different story, but if you want a truck that feels like a race car, the '04-'08 F-150's are not going to be the truck for you.....
