disable tpms

08 f150. Is there a way to disable the message center from reminding me constantly? I am not too concerned with my winter wheels and need to buy bands and one sensor to be in business. Its only about 80 bucks or so but I'm pretty aware if I have a low tire. But if I can't shut it off its worth the money.

Can't be done. It is a mandated safety feature just like a lot of other things thatcan't be undone.

Tpms

Dont' think you can turn it off, but I suppose you could put a piece of tape over the light to dim it down. Luckily my truck is heavy enough it didn't come with them so no reminder when I change out the summer and winter tires.

I broke down and bought bands and will grab a sensor from the junkyard here. If I ever sell it I don't want anything not operational.

Last I checked aftermarket tpms were $50 a pop and not $100 when I bought wheels and tires 2 years ago, you should keep. No way to tune for it already researched

Well the junkyard said they don't sell them. So a new one off eBay for 30 bucks it is.

On trucks, I know one fellow who placed all 4 inside his spare and that keeps the TPMS off.

Newer GoldWing (motorcycles) have TPMS ..... and it's set up to read two (two wheels) so when converted to trikes (three wheeled) ..... one trick to kill the TPMS is take both stock sensors, seal them inside a short piece of CPCV with glued on caps (use CPVC solvent) , after adding a shrader valve to one end .... and using a hand pump only (compressor will inflate it too fast) pump up about 35psi. Place tube under trike someplace zip tied in place.

It doesn't work. Been tried before and as soon as you travel more than about 20 miles the system sets a fault and flashes the TPMS light 75 times stating a fault, not low pressure. As soon as you stop, it resets because it now is correct, sensors not moving and pressure okay. Once the vehicle starts moving again over 25mph, it waits about 20 minutes and sets the fault again.

Which one doesn't work ..... Ford Truck or Gold Wing MC? I wondered about whether motion affected it when first I heard people talking about killing it.

For some reason his light stays off in his truck .... or so he says? Now I'm wondering what else he maybe could have done? I was planning on doing same when tire change time rolled around .... I'll ask him more details next time I see him.

The Gold Wing Trike fix is something I've heard others talk about ..... don't recall hearing if successful or not but it sounded OK. With a trike the rear two car size tires only carry 20 psi while the regular MC tires carry nearer 40 psi.

Ford TPMS system. It knows between moving and not moving and sends out different timing of signals. If while moving it still gets the non-moving signal timing it sets a fault. As far as the motorcycle setup, don't know, but would not be surprised if it is similar.

if you have the sensors why would you put them in the spare and not the wheels anyway? I bought all 4 bands and cradles for 35 bucks, to take down the spare and have them put in it would cost 20

I guess that a piece of strategically placed tape is the easiest way then ....
