is there a way around using e-fan controllers?

I have blown through 5 of the troyer controllers in the last 3 months. Every single time I get them they fail soon after. then I have to put a standard relay in and have the fans run anytime the ignition is on . They sent the new controller and it works for a few weeks again.

I was wondering if anyone has connected the pcm output for the electric fan clutch to a relay and then to the fans? Is there any reason why that wouldn't work?

Im assuming it is a 12v signal to the electronic clutch to turn it on and would be on constantly anytime the engine is up to temp or if the AC is on. Does anyone have experience with this?

I don't think it would ever work...the fans draw too much power. That being said, go here http://www.dccontrol.com/constant_te...ontrollers.htm and pick up an FK-55 unit and be done with it, they are bulletproof controllers.

Manual switches don't go over well if the wife needs to drive it. Lol.

I bit the bullet and purchased another controller. This time I went with the SPAL PWM V3. I took 5 hours to install and program it. I wanted it to look as factory as possible but with the amount of wires coming out of the controller and the secondary fan relay it looks a little cluttered. I put every wire inside loom but like I said it's still a bit cluttered. Once the install was complete I started the truck and followed the programming instructions. Programming it was a piece of cake. Everything works flawlessly. I used the OEM cylinder head temperature sensor as the input for the fans. I am super happy with the kit so far but it's only been 45 minutes. Lol. Hopefully it works for a few years and I won't have to think about it again.

Those troyer controllers might be fine for some people but I always had to worry if they got any water on them from a car wash or something. Water will kill them in an instant!

I recently installed one from http://www.madenterprise.com/fan%20control.htm
His can be wired several different ways and is adjustable when to come on at what temperature you want. It has a sensor that mounts on the A/C evap and only kicks on when needed not all the time the A/C is running. You can also wire an override that will turn the fan on high anytime you want with a switch, which is what I do when towing my 7500lb camper in the hills of WV, Temp has never went above 220 and runs about 194 normal driving. Very pleased so far

Going back to the OEM mechanical fan/clutch will solve your problem.

^^X3 for the Mads Fan controller....I used to have Troyers fans and DC Controller..never had a problem with the controller, however, had rust issues with the fans where I live so thought I'd give the Mad Enterprise setup a try as I can use the original fan shroud for salt protection. Going on two years with this setup with zero problems. Very happy with them

I have an 08 lariat with the electric fan clutch. Just got a electric fan off a 2012 f150 now the controller dilemma begins. What controller worked best for you

I dont know, I have the newer Troyer controllers for about 4 months now and no problems yet. Maybe people are just not wiring them correctly or something.
