I am going to get a new battery for the 07 F150 and have decided on getting the die hard platnium. My question is the truck came with a size 59 stock, can I wedge a size 65 in there in no modification? I know the manual says 59 or 65, but some of the time the later can only be used if a certian configuration was purchased. I don't have the truck int he driveway right now so I can't measure the battery tray. I was just asking cause I know someone has attempted it.

Put one in my 08 a few months ago. Love it. Makes the stock battery seem like it was way underpowered.

 

I have 65 series Interstate in my 07 f150. Fits like stock.

 

The Sears Platinum battery is a re-badged 'Odyssey' battery..it's one awesome battery, and, yes, the 65 series fits nicely. I have had one in my 07 going on two years now.

 

I just put the P2-65 in my '06. Fits perfectly.

 

I too have the Diehard Plat p2-65. Its a beast.

 

Just installed a Diehard Plat p2-65 in my '06. Had a couple of "Oh my god will this thing start" moments that past few cold mornings. Had a couple of coupons to Sears, so the price was a little better. Have to say truck cranks over pretty good now.

It was either this battery or the Interstate...either one probably is a good bet.

 

I replaced my oem battery in my 2004 f150 last week. I got 7 trouble free years out of the battery. I replaced it with a Die Hard Gold GRP65 Cost me $136.24 The oem battery cover still fitted on the new battery.

 

Yeah, either the 59 or 65 fits.

Kirkland was very recently rated a "best buy" in the group 65 size by Consumer Reports, actually rated well in all 4 tested groups.

 

Hey guys thanks for the answers, ya I got the sears platnium 65. As 26point2 said I also had a few is thing going to start moments on low teens mornings. So far the truck has been starting good, don't know if it is really any faster than the old motocraft. I also think it should have handleded the cold mornings better then it did with the truck not really sure if it was going to turn over. Then again maby I am expecting too much out of a 200$ battery? But it does fit nice and snug in the battery tray

HP, do you realize the battery you had in there was a 540 CCA battery? It looks like the Sears Platinum (Odysey) that you rteplaced with is 930 CCA's. (kinda hard to tell with it upside down but with a magnifier that's what it looks like). Ford ought to be horse whipped for putting that small a battery in that truck. My wife had a '88 Mercury Topaz w/ 2.3 4 cyl. that used the same exact battery (factory installed). She later had a '95 Taurus 3.0 V-6 with the exact same battery (factory installed). I know, my SIL has an '07 F-150 XLT Super Crew 5.4L with the same 540 CCA battery, but to me that is unconscionable. How can a 540 CCA battery start a truck with a 5.4L in -20 degree weather? Or does no one drive Fords in -20 degree weather? Maybe there's something wrong with your starter because that SP should absolutely put a NEW 540 CCA to shame. Amps are what gets the voltage to where it needs to go and there had to be a huge difference between what your old 540 tested in amps and what the new battery tests.

 

I just had to replace mine as well. Mine had a group 59 in it too. It's been really warm lately and its been fine, but as soon as it got cold one morning and a slow crank convinced me to change. I bought a group 65 from Exide, my friend runs a parts store and he gave me the battery at cost +5%. So a battery and two wix filters were less than $90.00.

 

My stock motorcraft always turned the truck over fine, when it was -20F, not plugged in, never failed me but it was four years old so I replaced it with the Interstate Mega-Tron Plus 65.
