I would say I am pretty lucky, given the circumstances.

Definitely, plus I have a high deductible which would make things even worse.

Hit and Run is only when they know they've been in an accident and fled.

Many TTs may change lanes and never see the car go off in the median.
Reckless? Yes.
Hit and Run? Not necessarily so.

I spent a lot of time tracking down H&R drivers, loved to catch one, and wasn't too happy if the victim suddenly decided tio tell the judge they wanted to forget it after we got to court.

I absolutely despise a property disrespecting sorry POS Hit and Run Driver.

Damn'em I say!

sorry about your truck. i been in the same boat (guy ran a light and allmost totaled my truck) but i have a story you guys might like to hear.

in NJ i see a ton of traffic violations from running stop lights or no turn signals when changing lanes, you name it i have seen it. now one day on my way to work (Corrections Officer) im at a red light with some traffic in front of me and the light goes green for my direction. a younger lady in a smaller Civic type car gets slammed from the passenger side my a larger white minivan, spinning her car *180 in the intersection
the van that i assumed was going to stop, slows down and then floors it right past me spinning the tires in the process like hes getting ready to run down the drag strip. I instanlly knew he was running for it and knowing that %99.99 of people in NJ would just watch and do nothing i looked behind me and in the other direction to make sure traffic was clear and whipped a U-turn right in the middle of the street (academy training kicking in the whole way LOL) and speed up to him wich he only made it a few 100yds. i saw him look in his rear view mirror and he just pulled over. thinking fast i wrote down the tag #, make, model color of the car and called the cops. the Driver, who was an older black man. jumps out and starts walking back to my truck with a "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU!" look on his face. i step out in full uniform wich is identical to the local police dept. and he instantlly turns around and gets back in his van. Cops showed up a few mins latter and the officer was actually a friend of mine that i deal with allot at work. i told him what happened he made the report and i went on my way seeing i was then late for work. About an hour later we get the call over the radio that the police are dropping one person off. just my luck. its the same guy from the accident turns out he had 3 Contempt charges out of 3 different counties, That explains why he tried to run. As he walked in to get admitted i looked at him and he just looked down and kept walking.

Just an intresting story i thought you guys would like to hear. and just so you know Corrections officers in NJ CAN arrest you, detain you and charge you, we just dont have a car to chase you with. lol
