Hit and run accident - Pics

Hey everyone, haven't posted on here in a while, but I thought that this story would be entertaining enough to post.

On June 1st, I was headed over to my cousins house around 6pm. I took the exit and was sitting in the two lane intersection, my lane you could either turn left or go straight, and the left lane was left turn only. Light turned green and made the left hand turn and about halfway through the turn my truck got rocked and I knew I had been in an accident. (what had happened was he decided to go straight in the left only turn lane and T-boned me in the drivers side door panels) I pulled under the bridge, rolled my window down and asked the fine gentleman to pull up to the gas station about a block away. He responded with speaking only Spanish and sped off. My reaction was to chase him, which i did. He was driving a 1995 nissan single cab pickup so I caught up with him relatively quickly, copied his plate number and continued to chase him.(don't really know what I would have done if he led me back to his house, but my adrenaline was pumping too much to care) I called the police while chasing him and they told me to pull over because they would be liable if I were to get in an accident since I was on the phone with them.(he was running red lights left and right) So I pulled over, waited an hour for the police to show up.

Once the police got there, they entered his plate number into their database and the guys name that showed up was of spanish decent, but listed as 5'11" 240lbs, and the guy driving was probably 5'6" 120lbs on a good day. So the officer was really blunt with me and told me that it's very rare that they will find this guy.(which I knew) The police gave me his information, insurance, and policy number and once again was honest with me and said that more than likely the insurance will be expired.

I gave it a shot and called his insurance company and the owner of the truck actually had insurance, I filed a claim, they had an appraiser come out and take pictures of my truck, and they sent me a check for right around 6 grand. I took my truck to the best body shop here in Tulsa and they estimated it around $7,700, not including a new wheel, so more around $8,000. His insurance will have to supplement the difference because I am taking my truck to my choice of body shop. So it turns out that I won't have to pay anything to get my truck fixed, which is a relief and that idiot that hit me is getting off scott free. Oh, and its going in the shop July 18th.

Here are some pictures of the damage (they really don't do it justice)

Looks like somebody took an axe to my door

Wow that sucks! But good thing you are getting it fixed without paying, and more importantly good thing you aren't hurt!

Yeah, we've had a number of accidents with the "illegals" in Tulsa lately. Many have been DUI incidents. Glad you weren't hit financially with this, but it's a shame the guy ran off. I'd have probably kept following him until the police caught up, you know he was going towards the 21st & Mingo area anyway!

Yeah I am lucky that I didn't get hurt and definitely glad it's getting paid for.

His address was wayyyyy north Tulsa, so I am glad I didn't end up following him. Could have turned out bad.

So...... if you could have fishtailed him into a pole or something while following him, would that have made it even? I kind of think so haha. Man I would have been so pissed. Damn illegals like he said

Oh yeah, that would have made it even. Even better, I had my concealed carry with me and the cop told me I could have taken out his tires.

Lol, yeah it's best just to stop at the railroad tracks. Nothing good on the North side anymore, despite the "efforts" to revitalize the area. That's why I live in BA, lol.

Glad to here you weren't hurt financially and more importantly physically. All the illegals around my way here in Md. all have out of state plates, either Pa. or Tenn. plates and you know they don't have insurance. I would have been forced to follow the hispanic bastard all the way if I were in your shoes.

I'm not trying to sound bigoted towards hispanics, as I am not, I just don't care for the the illegal ones

Man I am glad that worked out in your favor (given the circumstances). I am aware of multiple cases like that in my area. It burns me up.

Good thing he had insurance. I just moved from New Jersey to Owasso OK and when I called Gieco to update my insurance my premium actually went up. I flipped out and said you have got to be kidding. They said even though NJ is one of the most accident prone states Oklahoma is one of the most non-insured states, where tons don't carry insurance.

Anyways glad it worked out.
