Ford Canada Air Bag Recall

I am in Canada. I called my local dealership yesterday to inquire about the air bag recall. They told me that Ford Canada is not releasing the information to the dealerships here regarding which vehicles are effected until May 10th. On the Ford.com website for the US, it says that mine is subject to the recall. Interesting.

That's a lie. I called Koch Ford in Edmonton and they told me my truck was affected.

Kentwood ford is doing the recall now as well. They did quite a few trucks all ready.
I'm booked in.

ford only gives techs 30 minutes to get this done which is seriously how long it takes, very easy to do but those stupid caps that you have to take off on the steering wheel are like the hardest thing to do lol, i am a tech and have already done 5, any other ford tech on hear that has done any?

I watched the tech change mine out. I don't think it took 30 mins from the time the service manager started the paper work til I left the dealer. I didn't even call ahead or schedule an appointment.

got mine done Saturday, then this morning going into work, I turn into the parking lot, hear two 'clicks', and the horn goes nuts. smoked one horn before I could rip the wires out of the horns. guess the pigtail got wrapped around the clockspring somehow. took it back to the dealer today; hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Which wire harness is this? From behind the air-bag?

The reason I ask, is I just did the lariat radio control mod with switching my cruise buttons and I would hate to have them under my steering console messing with the clock-spring wire.

If they go behind the air-bag on the wheel.. that is fine.

They just pull the airbag. Pull those two circle covers on the sides of the wheel, remove two bolts and the bag unit comes off. Then they replace a short harness that connects between the airbag and wheel.

Got mine done, while it was in to diagnose a CEL for P0430. Long story short, Airbag recall complete, new drivers side cat on order under the 8yr 80k mile emmissions warranty.

Been about a week, and no difference seen or felt from pre recall.

I just called another dealership, and have an appointment for this afternoon. Cam Clark Ford in Airdrie sucks.
