Dealer screw up or common practice?
So after diagnosing a hesitation in the 40-50 mph range, I decided to change the plugs. They have about 50k on them and looked a little burnt after I pulled the first few. After getting them all out, the dealer that did my change last time put 2 different plugs in! Five say 7d and 3 say 7E. Is this normal or did the dealer screw me? The electrodes are clearly different sizes. Can this cause any long term damage? Should I bring it up with the dealer or just let it go?

do any of the plugs have a paint mark on the top. ford usually puts a paint mark on the top of the plug. its an easy way to identify an original plug. what you may have got was a few original design plugs and a few updated design plugs. if they lasted 2.5 years they couldnt have caused you much concern. i dought any service manager will give you any kind of reimbursment from work performed 2.5 years ago, maybe a free oil change if youve been a loyal customer, but its worth a try.

Its difficult to say whether they did half a job or used different plugs. I would pull the receipt and it should list parts used. I suppose whether they did half a job or used some different plugs, either way, they didn't do a proper job. But again, be certain when you look at the receipt to see if they charged you for 8 plugs and see what part number they have listed.
