Official what did you do to your truck today thread.
Drove it to the insurance office to show them the results of an altercation with "Bamby" Saturday night.
Left side front bumper push back, looks like a permanent dent in soft upper bumper cover where it was stretched with bend in bumper.
Looks like a minor tweak to left bumper bracket on frame,
new bumper bracket on bumper,
new bumper painted dark shadow grey,
new lower valance,
new upper cover painted red with flex agent.
Oh well, take care of the chips in the front bumper finish.

Note left side bumper pushed back, upper cover pushed up.

Thanks! , I keep telling myself that ....
No wrecker needed, was able to drive home making left turns only. Got home and rigged a chain and comealong and pulled it out from near tire.
Was about 1/2" from tread at straight ahead, could only "just bear" right. Officer offered a wrecker as he didn't think it'ld be OK .... instead of making rights, I just passed the turn and made a left u-turn and come back and turn left.

After I pulled the bumper back, the urethane upper cover dropped back down and headlight fit perfectly back in place.

Today I took her to the premier body shop within many many miles and the owner's son came out and we went over it.
Final tally is $1002.16.
The upper bumper urethane cover lost it's dent .... I guess the heat helped it. Only new parts needed are the bumper and the left bracket, and then paint the bumper and the urethane cover above it (under grille) which has some paint cracks where it was bent back with the bumper on that side.
They only need it 1 night too.
I was concerned about that urethane cover as you see them suffer peeling paint, but he told me that was a thing of the past with the new systems involving removing the part and heating it and some chemicals. It's why the paint never peeled on the front bumper of my 06 CVPI after they fixed it after I hit that big deer in November 2006, car was nearly new then. That car's still in service here, still looks great, soon have 150K on it, my replacement still has it (he totaled his just before he transferred in to fill my slot last year).
I feel much better. 30 plus years of comforting others at wreck scenes, it was different when it was my own somehow?
I'll take her in in a few weeks when their schedule clears up.

Detailed my black leather interior with my recently acquired Pinnacle Contours Interior Detailing kit. I love the smell ( and feel ) of freshly cleansed and conditioned leather.
On a negative note, Saturday ( July 30th '11 ) my front right caliper seized up and destroyed the rotor. I thought I avoided this when I traded my old truck which did the same thing 2 days prior to trade in. Looks like I did not avoid it, however I was planning a full brake upgrade this spring anyways since stock brakes are not enough to stop heavy 20s and 33s.
Ordered parts last night ( Aug 1st '11 ). Bought brand new OEM calipers from the dealership $202 with Core exchange ) and ordered Power Slot slotted rotors ( non cryo ) and Hawk LTS semi-metallic pads through Summit Racing. Rock Auto had the Power Slots for $98 each vs Summit's price of $137 each. I called and asked to price match with Rock Auto and they were able to, and adding the pads to the bill, $294 shipped free. Also got some caliper painting products and will be painting them silver. Will look nice when I have the XDs on.
Awaiting parts. Meanwhile I'm braking ever so gently to prevent locking the caliper to the rotor itself. Grinding my teeth every time I come to a full stop and hear/feel the rotor being shaven down more and more. Gas mileage hasn't taking too badly a hit yet at least.
So that event happening has just royally screwed my exhaust funding.. again..

Hell, those were the first things I ripped off of my truck.
Didn't do anything to my truck today. I wish my tires would wear out though, I'd really like to get 305/60/18's for it. Someday......
